🌱 Emissions must be reduced rapidly and deeply; #CDR can only complement this effort, not replace it. 🌱 Both new (often engineered) and more traditional (often forest-based) types of #CDR need to be scaled up. 🌱 Robust monitoring, reporting and verifying is critical for the success of further CDR deployment. 🌱 The different time frames and types of CDR must be aligned with the specific type of emissions they are supposed to neutralise (a “like-for-like” approach). 🌱 New, multi-level governance and policy instruments are required to support CDR innovation. 🌱 Discover the latest climate research here: https://lnkd.in/eCMrVGrJ #IFMAEMEA #sustainability #facilitymanagement #climate #science

🌍 Understanding the Role of Carbon Dioxide Removal in Long-term Climate Planning 🌍 We recently attended an insightful webinar hosted by the World Resources Institute (WRI) on the critical role of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) in achieving long-term climate goals. The discussion highlighted the necessity of integrating CDR with deep emissions reductions to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, as outlined in the Paris Agreement. Key Takeaways: - CDR is essential alongside rapid emissions reductions to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. - Emerging technologies like Direct Air Capture (DAC) are pivotal in scaling CDR efforts. - Effective regulatory frameworks are crucial to ensure responsible and equitable implementation of CDR projects. Our Solutions: - We assist organizations in integrating CDR strategies into their long-term sustainability plans. - We provide guidance on adopting cutting-edge CDR technologies tailored to specific needs. - We work with policymakers to develop robust frameworks that support sustainable CDR initiatives. Let’s collaborate to drive sustainable change and achieve reducing emissions! #Sustainability | #ClimateAction | #CarbonRemoval #SESSA

🌍 The Role of Carbon Dioxide Removal in Long-term Climate Planning 🌍 I recently had the opportunity to attend an enlightening webinar hosted by the World Resources Institute (WRI) on the pivotal role of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) in our climate strategy. The session underscored the importance of integrating CDR with aggressive emissions reductions to meet the 1.5°C target set by the Paris Agreement. Key Takeaways: - CDR must work hand-in-hand with emissions reductions to effectively combat climate change. - Advances in Direct Air Capture (DAC) and other CDR technologies are crucial for scaling our efforts. - Strong regulatory frameworks are essential to ensure the responsible and equitable deployment of CDR solutions. My Perspective: - It is vital for organizations to incorporate CDR into their long-term sustainability strategies. - Adopting cutting-edge CDR technologies can significantly enhance our climate action plans. - Engaging with policymakers to develop robust frameworks will support sustainable CDR initiatives. Let’s work together to drive meaningful change and achieve our climate goals! 🌱 #Sustainability | #ClimateAction | #CarbonRemoval | #SESSA

Removal seems to be the only viable option, along with serious mitigation efforts to reduce emissions. Conventional #carbonremoval, as mentioned in the paper, with Nature-based Solutions cannot be neglected. However, it is clear to anyone with basic understanding that we are in #climate dire straits and drastic carbon removal (CDR) is long overdue. #ESG #Sustainability

🤷♀️ Great, you have removed CO2 from the atmosphere. But now, how do you use it? Beyond the conversation about improving the quality of carbon removal (CDR) supply, aided by regulation, we often forget to ask: 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗗𝗥? 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿? To ensure CDR benefits the climate and our ecosystem, we must not only look at how it is generated but also at how it is 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 once removed. ⚖️ Should CDR be used voluntarily, by companies wishing to compensate for their emissions? 🎯 Should it become part of compliance mechanisms, or a tool for governments to reach their climate targets? 🌳 How should nature-based CDR be best used? We looked at all these questions, linked to existing or potential use cases for CDR, and more in our new policy brief! Read on and share your thoughts 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAx4aSJT #CDRUse #CarbonRemoval #PolicyBrief
