The IFRC and the DRC Red Cross sadly confirm the tragic death of Jean Florent Mosebi on 23 August 2024, Equateur Province, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), after his boat capsized. The loss of our staff and volunteers highlights the significant risks faced in providing essential humanitarian assistance in hard-to-reach areas. #ProtectHumanity

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the most devastating yet underreported conflicts of our time. Over 5.4 million people have been displaced, and more than 120 armed groups continue to threaten the safety and livelihoods of civilians. Sadly, over 27 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian aid, facing hunger, violence, and extreme instability. As someone originally from the DRC, I feel a profound responsibility to give back and amplify the voices of those who cannot speak for themselves. While the situation is dire, there is strength and resilience in the people, and I believe in their potential to rebuild and thrive. Let’s continue to shed light on the challenges and stand in solidarity with the people of eastern Congo. We must ensure their stories are told and their future is a priority. #DRC #HumanitarianCrisis #Congo #GiveBack #AmplifyVoices #Conflict #SustainableDevelopment

Civilians continue to bear the brunt of the instability in eastern Dr Congo. After decades of conflict and failed peace, these people deserve so much better, including the urgent implementation of a credible plan to de-escalate current tensions. This requires meaningful engagement from all sides, and an accompaniment by the international community that prioritises ending the cycle of suffering for populations in the region. Stability could and should be a win/win for the whole Great Lakes region and beyond - we need to do everything we can to promote it. #DRCongo https://lnkd.in/et299hSf

Last week, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini addressed the UN Security Council, highlighting the Agency's vital role amidst ongoing tragedies. Let's not forget: UNRWA is the backbone of Gaza's humanitarian efforts, providing crucial assistance and coordinating lifesaving aid. Beyond Gaza, it's been a champion of human development for Palestine refugees across the region for decades. Until a political solution is reached, UNRWA's presence is crucial. An immediate ceasefire is needed for UNRWA to fulfill its mandate and be able to fully deliver humanitarian services. Take less than 60 seconds to advocate for a ceasefire here: unrwausa.org

We cannot do more with less. The humanitarian situation in north-west #Syria is deterioraring with 4.2 million people in need out of 5.1 million. The Humanitarian Response Plan for Syria remains significantly underfunded at 25%, more support id needed. #withSyria
1/3 of #Syria's population are displaced for over a decade & require humanitarian assistance. Without increased funding, nearly 200 camps in north-west Syria risk losing access to water and sanitation by next month. Joyce Msuya addressed the Security Council today, and called for securing genuine progress towards lasting peace.🕊️

That is an ENGINEERING skill boosting Israel's next step of GENOCIDE and ethnic cleansing. An orchestrated step on the day of the ICJ provisional decision, because those establishments of the powerful western countries went MAD: https://lnkd.in/dXbZX6AZ https://lnkd.in/d-qYu8wV That is a evil engineering skill and a master piece to boost the Israeli-Genocide by putting max pressure towards ETHNIC CLEANSING in aftermath of dozens of thousands of killed children by western hi-tech weapons from countries USA/UK/Germany/etc. Even if there were 12 individuals who confessed under brutal Israeli torture, those 12 make a percentage of 0.0004% the workforce of UNRWA of 30000 employees All the Global-South sees, everyone his own genocide mirrored in the ongoing genocide executed by Israel and powerful western FRIENDS. To just mention some examples of Global-South countries (China, India, Namibia): CHINA remembers estimated 12-20 Million deaths by enforce Opium on the country, and estimated 1 million deaths in the wars INDIA remembers during hegemony of “East-India Company”: 22-70 lives were extinguished NAMIBIA: 50%-60% of the Namibian population was annihilated
"UNRWA lifesaving assistance is about to end following countries decisions to cut their funding to the Agency. Our humanitarian operation, on which 2 million people depend as a lifeline in Gaza, is collapsing. I am shocked such decisions are taken based on alleged behavior of a few individuals and as the war continues, needs are deepening & famine looms. Palestinians in Gaza did not need this additional collective punishment. This stains all of us." Read Philippe Lazzarini full statement: https://lnkd.in/eCRaYW7U

In the midst of so many conflicts happening globally, we must not forget the suffering that is happening in #Sudan. The last 9 months have brought more untold pain for the vulnerable communities in the region, with over 9,000 people killed, 7.3 million people displaced and over 24.7 million people in need of humanitarian aid. There are reports of genocide and ethnic cleansing. Spreading of serious illnesses and diseases. A whole generation of Sudanese children at risk of missing out on education. Lasting political solution is needed. Let’s end this term “forgotten war”. #SudanConflict #SudanCrisis
In this letter to The Irish Times today from Paul Westbury, our Global Safety and Access Adviser, Paul asks us not to forget the now nine-month old #SudanConflict. This conflict has claimed over 9,000 lives, displaced 7.3 million people internally and across borders, and left 24.7 million in need of humanitarian aid. Paul considers why the Sudan war is referred to as the 'forgotten war' on the international stage. #Humanitarianism is dedicated to championing the essential dignity and respect of all human beings. Let’s recognise and highlight the Sudan war, halt the downward spiral, mobilise resources and advocate for international intervention. This is the essence of humanitarianism. https://bit.ly/3tE9A3E

Solve the root problem, change the Assad regime. So, here are the facts: - Millions of #Syrians are displaced within the Syrian borders. - Most of them are in areas out of #Assad regime's control. - These displaced Syrians everywhere are living in bad conditions, and relying mostly on #humanitarian #aid either directly or indirectly. - #Turkey controls what happens to the north-west of Syria, and takes fees (in form of taxes and exchange rate differences in order to let aid come through borders. - Assad's regime controls everything has to do with the humanitarian aid in the areas under its control. - The regime uses humanitarian aid to support its affiliated militias, and its supporters. - The regime uses the excuses of #early #recovery and #rebuilding #Syria (What the regime itself destroyed) to get more money and support its ongoing military attacks on Syrians in north west of Syria. It's complicated, right? NO! it's not, Assad's regime has been (and still is) killing Syrians by bombing, shelling, shooting, executing and starving them, not to mention the tens of thousands #detained in its underground #prisons without any form of #justice or trials. Solve the root problem, change the Assad regime.

In Gaza, 85% of the population has been displaced from their homes. Food and water sources are depleted, and humanitarian aid is increasing but nowhere near meeting the demand. International Relief Teams' work has focused on providing critical food and sanitation to thousands of families in Gaza. As the conflict intensifies and famine looms, all our efforts are on providing food to internally displaced people in Rafah, where over 1.3 million Palestinian are sheltering in inhumane conditions, bracing for continued assaults on the city. The needs created by the war continue to be enormous, but we will continue working to serve as many people as we can, both in Gaza and Israel, as long as the war continues. https://lnkd.in/gvHWDuDN

International Aid needs to arrive to Palestinians but is UNRWA the best agency to do so? Certainly it is not the only one in the field... UNRWA has been there since last century and they should have known better. But it is very difficult for a UN mission to know everything about their local staff. And many international staff get emotionally affected by conflicts and even unconsciously, they take sides. And maybe that on itself is the problem and we should start questioning the validity of UN missions as we know them today. Inefficiency, reproduction of global power unbalance, corruption, collateral consequences, humiliation in the international/national differences, incapacity of international staff to understand the context where they work, subordination to dictatorial and autocratic governments who have to authorise the presence of the missions.... Having terrorists in our midst, misuse of funds, ineffectiveness etc is just only a consequence of the fact that, in the United Nations, the Nations are not United, and very rarely ever were. #fetishizingaltruism #internationalaidcontext #unrwa #corruption #un

🚨UNRWA is the primary humanitarian agency in Gaza, with over 2 million people depending on it for their sheer survival. Many are hungry as the clock is ticking towards a looming famine.🚨 🚨The Agency runs shelters for over 1 million people and provides food and primary healthcare even at the height of the hostilities.🚨 🚨As of 27 January 2024- “Nine countries have as of today temporarily suspended their funding to UNRWA. These decisions threaten our ongoing humanitarian work across the region including and especially in the Gaza Strip.🚨 🚨Countries that stopped funding UNRWA for Palestine are Canada, Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, and the United States, influenced by the United States.🚨 🚨Israel’s offensive backed by their western allies has killed more than 26,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health authorities, with thousands more feared dead and buried under the rubble, and most of the enclave’s 2.3 million residents displaced and facing acute shortages of food, water and medicine.🚨 🚨After more than three months of atrocities, there is now a decision to halt all forms of aid support for Palestine. The global community is closely observing this situation, and some believe that those responsible for these actions will eventually be held accountable, drawing parallels to historical instances where perpetrators faced consequences, as in the case of the Nazis and their allies.🚨 #stopgenocideingaza #stopthewaronchildren #freepalestine #gaza #warcrime #genocide #standwithpalestine #ceasefirenow
