We’re proud to stand behind these six steps towards migrant justice. Together, we can work towards a fairer society in which everyone’s rights are respected. For too long, our media and politicians have used people who move as political footballs. Enough is enough. We demand justice, now. We’re joining dozens of other organisations to demand justice for people who move. Our vision is of a society where everyone can thrive, no matter where we’re from or the colour of our skin. We all need rights, safety, dignity, justice, privacy and community – that includes people who move to the UK and make it their home. Read the six steps towards migrant justice, and a fairer society for us all. #MigrantJustice #RefugeesWelcome

With all the negative political rhetoric, it's crucial to remember that people who are migrating are humans trying to survive. Many endure extremely traumatic journeys full of abuse, hunger and death. To better understand the experiences of migrant families, we created a video: Sheltering Hope: Migrant Families on the Southern Border. This video offers a unique perspective on the challenges and hardships faced by those seeking refuge in the United States. https://lnkd.in/e6M5tA6Z Let's work together to create a more empathetic and compassionate society. #MigrantFamilies #ShelteringHope #SouthernBorder

So important:
There's been some troubling language going around on refugees and asylum seekers, in New York City and around the country. Reminder: Asylum seekers are people fleeing violence and persecution, looking for a better future for their families. We can—and must—welcome people with humanity and dignity.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of the 7-year old girl, woman and three men who died trying to seek safety and the hopes of a better life. We continue to advocate for a compassionate asylum system which protects human rights and creates safe routes for those seeking sanctuary. The new Migration and Asylum Pact has been adopted but the system is still broken. My concerns still remain regarding the coming impact on families and children due to, among others, the fast-track processes, the detention under the Screening Regulation, and the barriers to access safety and services which will aggravate instances of violence, abuse, and trafficking. Solidarity provisions for search and rescue operations and prevention of deaths at the Mediterranean, among other issues, were not looked at and policies - throughout the implementation era - need to be grounded in childen's needs and invest in safeguards, procedures and capacities that address the vulnerabilities and leverage the potential of all migrants. Migration and asylum policies fail when they are blind to children’s needs and do not invest in capacities that address their vulnerabilities and leverage their potential. We should all push for a fair and humane migration and asylum system that respects children, international humanitarian and human rights law, by enhancing provisions of the Pact; let's get it right. #migrant #children #humanrights #Mediterranean
