There was a very interesting question by one of my fellow participants at this #PanelDiscussion organized by Keka HR. He asked what stops Indian companies from implementing a 15 days (2 weeks) notice period across positions, or atleast across many of them. Shruti, who was one of the panelists asked the participant why didn't he implement it in his own organization and set an example for everyone else. She also spoke about how we cannot have the same metric for all positions, especially for Senior Leadership and CXO positions. From what I understand, based on my own experience, it's the feeling of #FOMO by all organizations that prevent them from implementing anything that goes against the industry norm, unless it brings a proven positive advantage to the organization. Most organizations look at established companies in their industry for setting up their policies and processes, and not look at what they actually need. They perceive any change to the 30/60/90 day notice period policy as a threat to business continuity and their competitive advantage. Unless the Management and the HR work together and decide to look inward, #Change will take time. Afterall, Change comes from within. I would love my fellow #HR practioners from the industry, especially my batchmates from XLRI PGDM HRM for Emerging CHROs to air their views on this.
