🚀 3 Game-Changing Lessons from Hackathons: Boost Your Teamwork and Productivity
Recently, my colleagues at Sideral and I were invited to participate in a hackathon as data experts. Having taken part in several hackathons, I've uncovered valuable insights that can transform teamwork and productivity. Here’s what I’ve learned:
1️⃣ Target of the Discussion: When discussing with a large group, setting a clear goal for the discussion is crucial. It helps frame the direction and prevents getting lost in a sea of ideas. Save creative ideas for later to stay focused; otherwise, you risk losing the aim of the discussion and wasting valuable time.
2️⃣ The Power of Deadlines: Working with deadlines creates a strong sense of responsibility towards team decisions. You can't go back on a decision, so everyone puts in the effort to make it count. Deadlines also moderate digressions, helping the team focus on refining existing ideas rather than exploring new ones at the wrong time.
3️⃣ Effective Large Team Collaboration: Managing discussions with eight or more people can be challenging. It's crucial to ensure everyone is aligned with the decisions being made. Often, team members share the same vision but express it differently, leading to misunderstandings. Splitting into subgroups with specific tasks enhances productivity and clarity, as each group can focus on particular aspects of the project.
Hackathons are a fantastic way to learn and grow, and I'm excited to be part of another one in the future!
