A Smile Returns To You - Hospitality I expect all of us at one time or another have heard the term "A Smile will always return to you". How true this is, and employment within the Hospitality industry that surly is one of the prerequisites. The Marriott Brand has a 15-5 rule, and teaches employees to make eye contact, and smile at customers when they are within 15 feet, and to give a verbal greeting when customers are within 5 feet. This is so important and basically forms the foundation and expectation with guest engagement. I should also include The Ritz Carlton Hotels 3 steps of service Three Steps of Service 1. A warm and sincere greeting. Use the guest's name. 2. Anticipation and fulfillment of each guest's needs. 3. Fond farewell. Give a warm good-bye, and use the guest's name. 2010 - Failed to get admission to a public college 2011 - Started part-time jobs as a doorman 2013 - Joined JW Marriott as a bellboy 2015 - Started working in the biggest hotels in Vietnam as a supervisor 2016 - Promoted to manager 2019 - Started my own business 2024 - Expanded to 150+ countries, 260+ partners, serving 600+ customers every day It was tough: ▶️ Balancing studies and part-time work ▶️ People were judgemental in the hotel industry, and the perception was bad ▶️ Financial problems and uncertainties of starting a business But on the other hand I - ☑️ Gained valuable experience in the hospitality industry ☑️ Built a network and reputation ☑️ Achieved turnover of more than 3.9 million a year. Moral of the story: ▶️ New opportunities can come from anywhere- be observant. ▶️ Determination and willpower will help you achieve your goals ▶️ Get obsessed with solving a problem and build from the ground up.
