A blunder I made until recently? I thought I need perfect value posts But what's value anyway? Value ≠ Secret information It isn't a race to share info to people (We aren't paps, are we?) What counts as valuable then? 👉 Your unique experiences are valuable 👉 Your expertise on a niche is valuable 👉 Your sense of humour is valuable 👉 Your stories are valuable No matter who we are. We all have some "value" to share. 3.5 ways I deliver value : 1. I share stories to empower -> Make your community feel unstoppable. 2. I share struggles to inspire -> Make 'em feel heard and seen. 3. I share my knowledge to educate -> Make'em see you as authority 3.5. I talk a lot about community - building, nurturing, engaging a thriving community. Before you can do that, you need to understand the difference between an audience and a community. You probably already have an audience, but what you want is a community.

90% Don’t Know This About Community Building Community building isn’t just about content and engagement. Here’s one tip most overlook: 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀. Why it matters: - Authentic Engagement: They bring genuine passion. - Scalability: They expand your community’s reach. - Trust Building: When peers step up, trust grows. - Critical Feedback: They provide key insights. How to start: 1. Identify active, positive members. 2. Empower them with tools and recognition. 3. Support them with regular check-ins. 4. Celebrate their contributions publicly. “Okay, everyone. As we get started, let’s get to know each other! Turn to the person sitting beside you and find 3 things you have in common!” If you’re like me, you’ve been in this scene time and again. Icebreakers are supposed to be fun, lighthearted conversations or games to get people talking at the start of a meeting. By giving people a shared experience, the thinking goes, they’ll be more likely to bond and get more from the overall presentation or training session. Oh, icebreakers bring people together all right, together in near-universal loathing for this hackneyed activity. But why? How did something intended to build community end up spawning such epic eye rolls, so many whispered snarky comments? 🌟 A tip for community builders: Internal evangelizing is critical Speak with your colleagues to understand their KPIs and show them how the community can support them. It's a win-win: They can do a better job, and you gain another community champion.

What people like to see is succeeding in public, not building in public. But default to transparency, even when it's uncomfortable. It's tempting only to showcase highlights reel moments publicly. But trust is built when people see you're a real human facing real struggles. Share the messy middle, not just the smooth beginning and end. Admit mistakes and missteps and share learned lessons along the way. The obstacles you overcome will make the view from the top that much sweeter. Transparency will build trust. Trust will build community. And the community will build lasting connections.
