We're excited to present you Make a Mark III project Notte Oscura by Dario Frattaruolo. PROJECT: NOTTE OSCURA – Hermetic Perfume CONCEPT Notte Oscura is more than just packaging. It represents the close union of creativity, technology, and alchemic tradition, an experience that goes beyond perfume, leading into the magic of an eternally enthralling dark night. The concept of the dark night of the soul, taken from the Carmelites and transposed into alchemy and psychology, symbolizes the breakdown of the psyche triggered by trauma or existential doubts. This phase of intense suffering and inner darkness opens the way to psycho-spiritual transformation and a growing awareness of a desire to come closer to God. APPROACH Crafted in high quality metal and decorated with mother-of-pearl and glass icons, the bottle embodies a minimal but intense design achieved through an interplay of transparency and light effects. Its clean, squarish lines transmit elegance and the suggestion of a magical elixir that can give strength and allure to those who wear it. The deep black of the label represents the darkness of night. It captures the essence of the moment and transmits a sense of mystery. Chosen as the primary color, black is expressed in high quality materials and Avery Dennison’s production techniques. Sustainable materials were used to mimic liquid mercury, giving the packaging a touch of magic in harmony with the planet. Specially selected materials make up the heart of the Notte Oscura packaging, including pure black ink of extraordinary depth originally developed for the aerospace industry. With its incredible ability to absorb light, this 99% pure black fills the imagination with a deep sense of mystery and elegance.
