Excited for my graduation in the Yali Leadership program. A program that has taken 6-7 weeks for which only 400 participants were selected from a pool of over 6,000 applicants. I should be quick to mention that the networks and module contents are a world class component of the program. I would highly recommend one to apply for the program. Some secured sponsorship and business mentorship for their project ideas. You could be the next one #Lets_Keep_Learning #Yali_RLC_Cohort19_Graduate #Business_Entrepreneurship #Yali_Alumni

At the AIATSIS Summit in Naarm recently, Ian Hamm MAICD FIPAA from the First Nations Foundation told attendees that Australia needs "programs to help Indigenous people progress up the employment ladder into management and leadership positions.” Ian went on to say that there needs to be a change in why organisations employ Indigenous people. He said we need to move past the outcome of the number of Indigenous employees, and instead people should ask how can I help Indigenous people move through the business. Fundamental shifts are needed by employers to help us [Indigenous people] to realise our full potential as there are benefits for everybody. Through Cultivate Indigenous, you can bridge the gap and empower this change. Sign up for our Warra program today! Last week's Career and Leadership Education in Aotearoa panel discussion was a huge success. We had over 200 people register representing a range of organisations from across many sectors, including education, government, not-for-profits and commercial. The feedback we have received, and continue to receive, is in overwhelming support of the various topics touched on by our panelists. - The importance of leadership - The focus on starting the career journey earlier - Broadening horizons - The power of networking - Ensuring that the whānua are part of the process. Here are a couple of the many quotable moments: 'We help our students figure out what is their superpower, and then put a plan in place to help them develop that superpower' - Russel Dunn, Tāmaki College 'What is the purpose of the education system? It is more than just to raise economic units' - Cherie Perrow, CDANZ Click here to check out the full discussion: https://lnkd.in/g8ZEsCvw #equity #careers #schools #pathways #transition #leadership #education #thrive

Medical Doctor , Preventive Health Advocate, BSC in Physiology , Volunteer as Social Media Team leader PivotAfrica, Millennium Campus Network (MCN) Fellow
Day 2 of the Afara Initiative Bootcamp - The Bridge Program Fellowship - was a day of profound insights and growth. It began with fellows sharing their personal stories, highlighting a common thread: a turning point that sparked a desire for change. The day's activities included a thrilling handcuff challenge, which my partner and I managed to overcome just in time. The highlight for me was the session on Emotional Intelligence in leadership roles, led by a knowledgeable facilitator. I gained valuable insights into the importance of EI in effective leadership. A thought-provoking debate on the impact of aid in Africa, inspired by Moyo Dambisa's work, followed. We also explored the concept of "Inner Rings" by C.S. Lewis, facilitated by Hatim Eitayeb, which shed light on how social groups can influence our moral standards. Chandril Chattopadhyay's session on critical writing was equally engaging, offering practical tips and techniques. The day concluded with fun icebreaker activities, including dance games and team challenges. Reflecting on the day's learnings, I focused on Emotional Intelligence and its key components: Self-Awareness, Self-Regulation, Motivation, Empathy, and Social Skills. These insights will undoubtedly shape my leadership journey. #14DAYSCONSISTENCYCHALLENGE #TBP24 #TheAfaraInitiative #BridgeFellow #TBPGlobal #globallycompetitive #TBPshapingfutures
