In my recent garden photography session, I was able to capture some truly incredible images that showcase the vibrant colors, intricate details, and serene atmosphere of my garden. Nature has an uncanny ability to create picturesque scenes that can truly take your breath away. From the delicate petals of a flower to the play of light and shadows among the leaves, there is an endless array of captivating moments waiting to be captured through the lens. But is there such a thing as the perfect picture? The concept of perfection in photography is subjective, as it can vary from person to person. Each individual has their own unique perspective and preferences when it comes to what they consider to be a perfect picture. For some, a perfect picture might be one that perfectly captures the essence of a fleeting moment or evokes a strong emotional response. For others, it could be a technically flawless image with impeccable composition and lighting. Ultimately, the perfect picture is one that resonates with the photographer and the viewer, conveying a story or invoking an emotional connection. In the world of photography, there is no definitive answer to what constitutes a perfect picture. It is a journey of exploration, experimentation, and personal expression. Every click of the shutter brings the opportunity to capture something extraordinary and create a visual masterpiece. So, as I continue to delve into the world of photography, I am grateful for the moments I have been able to capture in my garden. What is the most difficult thing to learn when you study photography? Or maybe I should put it this way: what is the most complicated thing to understand? It is not the technique, because that is knowledge that ends up being so intuitive and natural that you use it without thinking. It's like being a poet and writing poetry, you just write. Nor is it aesthetics because that is something you find investigating within yourself after interpreting the world with your unique perspective – although that requires a lot of curiosity, time and patience. The most difficult thing to understand when you have already learned both the technique and the aesthetics is this: that the first act of creation in photography is simply looking at the world, just that. Because when you look you are choosing a part of reality to represent it in a photograph as nobody else but you will be able to do. Aesthetics and technique will come later. And even more important than learning to look is learning to be consistent with it because that look is you: as a person and as an artist – that is the really difficult part of being a photographer! The photo emphasizes the rough, uneven surfaces and the interplay of light and shadow that accentuates the gritty texture of the concrete blocks and mortar. The composition draws attention to the tactile quality of the materials, highlighting the raw, unfinished state of the structure.

In this exploration of architectural photography, I embark on a philosophical journey to unravel how spaces articulate the essence of human existence. Through these images, I confront profound questions: Who are we within these walls? Where are we situated in the grand tapestry of our environment? When does our presence here intersect with the passage of time? Why do these structures exist, and what purpose do they serve in our lives?

Philipp Frank Philipp Frank is an artist who grew up between Paris and Munich. His first approach to art was through graffiti, then, while photographing his artwork, he approached the world of photography and video. Today, after working for years as an art director and illustrator, Philipp specializes in site-specific installations and light art. His works are the result of a process that involves choosing the perfect location, mapping the surface on which he has decided to project, creating the images to be projected and, finally, shooting the final result. A recurring feature in his work, since his first murals, is the geometric element.
