Stereotypical depictions of New Jersey in Hollywood portray the landscape as a heavily urbanized, industrialized environment. As if the entire State resembles the industrial areas along the New Jersey Turnpike, or the densely populated areas across the river from New York City. Contrary to stereotypes, New Jersey has large semi-rural and rural areas, parks, Delaware and Hudson river access, beautiful beaches, lakes and even some remote hill terrain. JBMDL for instance, is surrounded by semi-rural areas, farms, and small towns. The training area where this fire occurred is largely rural, remote, surrounded by forests. Even in the most urbanized/industrialized NJ areas, there are open spaces, and natural areas to enjoy.
