I believe it's time for universities to integrate driver's license training into their tuition fees. Although this idea might initially appear far-fetched, we must consider the objective of universities: to prepare graduates who are fully equipped to meet industry standards. A driver's license is an essential qualification in today's world, yet it is surprisingly absent from university programs. We train students in first aid, a skill seldom used, so why not invest in something as universally beneficial as driving skills? With the rising costs of education, including this training in tuition fees could significantly aid students, particularly those relying on financial aid like NSFAS. #RaisingAwareness #thoughtprovoking

I think it's easy to look at this and say it's unfair towards ITP workers, however the majority of these subject areas are delivered in the main by colleges, not ITPs so one could argue it's led by skills shortages that the ITPs aren't as focused on as colleges. Anyway, the answer in general doesn't lie in blanket golden hellos. Take ITPs that operate in the digital sector for example. The large digital ITPs do not need support to hire as there are lots of talented people out there already. They have the money to pay well as the quals are well funded and (some/most) are funding their growth with debt so does it really matter what their income is like 😅 The problem in that space is a combination of wage inflation due to this false growth and consolidation of the market leading to a monopoly situation. Both of these factors mean that small digital ITPs probably do have a challenge. However, a blanket £6k welcome payment across all does not solve the recruitment issue for these small providers. The foundations need to be put in order before more funding is thrown at ITPs to support recruitment. A good start would be to look after the people they have. Scrutisinise more closely sector mergers and provider operators to prevent overworking people and commercial fragility that leads to redundancies in the sector. That would save some money which can be redirected towards golden hellos. Ironically if you can get rid of the bad actors, you probably won't need golden hellos.

Realy good article highlights the real impact of the potential removal of funding for level 3 qualifcations in favour of T-levels. For me it shouldn't be one study methodology in favour of the other, we should have a range of solutions that give learners a choice how and what they study, institutions/providers the choice as to how they meet local/national skills and employers the choice of how they get trained and qualified staff. By only allowing one choice we create a single point of failure and we create a boom bust skills shortage culture #protectstudentchoicecampaign

I teach doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals English for Healthcare, with a focus on the OET.
I failed my driving test twice before finding the right teacher: he was recommended by the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO) in Colchester. He loved to tell me 'Helen, your mind is very racy...' and that I needed to calm down to be a safe and competent driver. He annoyed me a bit at the time, but he proved a worthy teacher who got me through on the third attempt. Today is the deadline for candidates to the ECFMG (the US regulator for medical education) to submit all their paperwork to apply for a medical residency at the hospital or hospitals of their choice. One of the documents required for International Medical Graduates is a results statement for OET Medicine with Bs in Listening, Reading, and Speaking and a C in Writing. This means that a student who did not attain those scores needs to prepare everything again before reapplying next year. In this blog post, I highlight for recruiters the importance of early OET preparation for their candidates. If you need help with an OET resit, check out my OET Resit Ready course starting 6th March and 3rd April. https://lnkd.in/eXdqDxUF #usmle #usmleprep #workinusa #oetdoctors #doctorsrecruitment #testprep

Qualified educators no longer need to do the full Cert IV – comment by CEO Jenny Dodd The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) is to be commended for bringing forward changes to the new RTO Standards that should improve the pipeline of qualified people for the TAFE workforce. State and Territory Skills Minister have approved these early amendments. At last, we see changes that recognise those who hold qualifications in education can be members of our TAFE workforce without having to do the full Cert IV TAE. There is still the requirement for these educators, who must be eligible to hold registration as a secondary school teacher, to attain the Assessor skill set (or an equivalent). However, this is a significant improvement to the current barrier of having to attain the full Cert IV. That means these professionals will be able to both train and assess in TAFE. As we know, supervision or vigilance is a crucial factor for any exam. In traditional exams, an invigilator used to personally supervise the candidates as they wrote their exams. With the coronavirus outbreak, maintaining social distancing has become inevitable and educational entities deliberately had to switch to an Online mode of exam conduction. The old traditional ways of conducting examinations are now gradually going out of date. We are bound to take up learning activities within the four walls of our houses. Hence, conducting courses and exams remotely has become a necessity. Eklavvya’s solution for Remote proctoring addresses all the issues and requirements related to the conduction of online exams. It is one of the most advanced and reliable solutions for remote proctoring online exams. #talentServe

End of formal education system ? Are we looming into the end of the formal education system because to say the least the system has become unsustainable. The cost of schooling & graduation has become exhorbant for sometime and eventually realizing that a formal stamp of approval by a so called system is of little or no significanace to land a meaningful job and career. Into the future - 1) Job areas where you cannot work without system approved license or certificate will continue to be BAU for sometime. Ex medical practitioners , doctors , lawyers etc . 2) Job areas such as marketing , advertising, IT , financial education are the first ones to switch away from formal education degree system which is the ongoing trend as well. 3) Home schooling will not be a luxury but a necessity. 4) Value driven education will come into fore instead of false stamp based degree certificates. Students will thrive on online free education content and paid content which adds knowledge value instead of just societal recognition.
