Children without stable housing can suffer health impacts for years to come. We know that struggles with basic needs like housing, safety, and health are all connected. And our early developmental years leave us particularly vulnerable to the psychological and physical effects of stress and instability. Although this article was based on schools in Mississippi, this seems to be an epidemic everywhere. I believe this was an issue pre-pandemic and heightened after the pandemic. What are the solutions for increasing the attendance rates to ensure that students are successful in their postsecondary opportunities? It is time to take these conversations a lot more seriously as this impacts a whole generation.
Mississippi Today published an article on the national trend of absenteeism impacting Mississippi schools. Pre-pandemic, ReImagine Prep had some of the lowest absenteeism rates in the state, but post-pandemic has had some of the highest. Dr. Jasmine Thornton, Managing Director of Family and Community Engagement, spearheaded an effort to understand the high rates and combat them. 📓📚 Check out the article below! https://lnkd.in/ePyrJe-j

I'm feeling more knowledgeable than I did this morning, after having attended "Stopping Elder Abuse – Part One," a free webinar offered by AgeWise Colorado. It will be posted online on their website in the coming weeks, and I highly recommend it! (https://lnkd.in/gCBStr-r) Here's the blurb: "What constitutes elder abuse? Can elders be protected? Who is there to help? Tune in for some of those answers.” When I coach/consult with adult children of older parents, it's helpful for me to have this information. You never know what a client is going to ask me about. #knowledgesharing #knowledgeispower #olderadults #coaching
