Between the devastating fires in southern California and unexpected winter storms across the southeast United States that have upset the lives of many of our members, we have added an extra week extension for submitting presentations and hands-on workshops for IES25 through January 30. Visit ies.org/ac to start your submission to speak The Lighting Conference. Submissions for posters and 30-minute conference papers & technical presentations will still close on February 27.

This is a good opportunity to learn about some interesting research on building energy efficiency and electrification.
We're excited to host our Fall 2024 Industry Advisory Board meeting on Monday! There's still time to register and join us remotely or in-person at CU Boulder or City College of New York. Register via Eventbrite for free today: https://lnkd.in/eb5gwVPb. Guests are welcome to join! In the morning sessions you'll hear about Carrier's vision for the future from our keynote speaker, Dr. Mike Birnkrant, then join us for a brainstorming session to generate research topics for next year's RFP. In the afternoon, you'll hear updates from our FY24-25 research projects: 1. Performance Evaluation and Grid Impacts of Intelligent Field Devices and Next-Generation Heat Pumps with an Application to Adaptive Reuse of Commercial Buildings, Gregor Henze (CU) 2. Design & Techno-Economic Assessment Tool for ASHP Systems for Cooling, Heating and Hot Water, Prathap Ramamurthy (CCNY), Jorge E. Gonzalez (U at Albany) 3. Feasibility Evaluation of Net-Positive Window Systems, Moncef Krarti, Mike McGehee (CU) 4. Embodied Energy and Embodied Carbon Analysis of Residential & Commercial Building Envelopes, Wil V. Srubar III, PhD (CU) 5. Enhancing Thermal Energy Harvesting and Storage using Monolithic Mesoporous Metamaterials (MMMs) and Phase Change Materials (PCMs), Ivan Smalyukh (CU) The full meeting agenda is available for download on our event website: https://lnkd.in/edBYdsV7.

Dear colleagues, dear friends, I'm pleased to share with you the publication of the proceedings of the first international symposium on the SRI (Smart Readiness Indicator), which will be mandatory in the new EPB from 2027. This indicator will not only measure the level of intelligence of your building (smart buildings), but will also link this intelligence to the ability to guarantee the results obtained within the framework of the PEB calculation. Renewed performance like an identity card... The Karlsruhe symposium was an opportunity to take stock of this brand-new subject. For my part, I presented and published my first analyses of the links between energy entropy and data entropy through measurement in buildings: Less is more! Or, how to make the best use of data upstream of the project to reduce the entropy of use of buildings in operation. The conference proceedings are published and available for download. Happy reading! https://lnkd.in/eAq2bcbU

There are a lot of hidden histories in education that we still need to uncover and, to borrow loosely from Paulo Freire, you are the best expert in your own history within education, so what missing stories do you think need to be told? Why not tell them yourself? Help the Organization of Educational Historians tell the missing stories - attend the “From Prosposal to Publication” session and learn more how your work can help restore history within the history of education that we have missed. #History #Education
Mark your calendars! Our second annual virtual workshop "From Proposal to Publication" is Saturday November 16, 2024 from 10am-12pm EST. Graduate students, junior faculty, and anyone interested in learning how to transform your OEH conference proposal to a manuscript submission to The American Educational History Journal are encouraged to attend! Please register here https://lnkd.in/eKD8sQdp and email OEHMembershipcoordinator@gmail.com if you have any questions!
