🎉 Excited to Announce Our Latest Publication! After months of hard work after the graduation from the Lund University, I am really happy to share that our research article "Proposal for revised criteria for daylight provision in the European daylight standard based on calculations for Swedish multifamily residential buildings", has been approved and published! Click the link below to see the article. https://lnkd.in/dY4bqsJq This work delves into the European Daylight Standard EN17037, addressing over ambitious criteria for daylight provision which hinders its implementation in national legislations. Therefore, a revised illuminance-based criteria for daylight provision are proposed by using the specific case of regularly occupied rooms in multifamily Swedish residential buildings as an example. And I kindly invite to you read the article, I'd love to hear your thoughts or having a discussion with us! At the end, I would also like to acknowledge the support and assistance of Xintong Chen, Niko Gentile, Paul Rogers, Angel Perez Morata, Helle Foldbjerg Rasmussen, Marie-Claude Dubois, Iason Bournas, and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee (TC) 169 Working Group (WG) 11 ‘Daylight’. ♥️

I was honored to Chair an ICSV30* session on "Human Response to Noise and Vibration in Buildings," where I also presented my paper, "A Better Definition of Noise - Implications for Acoustical and Noise Control Design." Noise is now defined as " ... unwanted and harmful sound," due to its many effects on the body, not just on hearing. Architects and engineers will need to seriously consider controlling acoustical, noise and vibration (ANV) criteria and design buildings to achieve basis of design and mandated sound limits. *30th International Congress on Sound & Vibration, Amsterdam, July 2024.

It was truly an honor to participate in the Free Will Conference this past weekend. The opportunity to engage with Israel Supreme Court Justice Judge Elyakim Rubinstein, along with award-winning scientists, math professors, philosophers, psychologists, and doctors, provided a rich and multidisciplinary exploration of the concept of free will. As an architect specializing in designing spaces that anticipate human needs and actions, I found it particularly intriguing to contemplate the interplay between free will and environmental influences. How much of our experience within built environments is a product of individual choice, and how much is shaped by predetermined expectations and the intentions of planners? In a world where every experience is an ongoing, infinite process, and where we encounter each space anew in every moment, the challenge becomes narrowing down an architectural space to its unique essence. This requires a deep understanding of the factors influencing human behavior and perception within a given environment. By carefully considering elements such as layout, lighting, materials, and spatial organization, we can create spaces that not only allow free will but also inspire and empower individuals to shape their personal experiences in meaningful ways.
