Coming this week, I'll share what I know thus far about video, productivity and how that ties into enablement. While I'm not a purveyor of a ton of short form video (TikTok, YouTube Shorts), I recognize their appeal. Back to my breadth over depth, I still need to know what I suspect is an above average body of knowledge in any subject just not Masters/Ph.D level. Being able to speak to it and being able to provide supporting documentation is level I strive for. Like everything in life, video isn't for everyone but it can provide clarity, additional context, and examples that written and audio only can be more challenging.

Speakers have the power to change people's lives. As we know from Spiderman: "With great power, comes great responsibility". Spiderman was a superhero because he used his power to do good. We have seen many despots through the ages use the power of public speaking to manipulate, antagonise, and harm. It's my passion to create as many superheroes as possible who are going out there and doing the good work. That is why, in just over a week, I'm running a series of live online workshops "Superhero Speaker". This is a 5 week programme that I am filming and turning into an online course that will be released in 2025. You get to: A) Experience it before anyone else B) Get to be part of the filming for free In these sessions you will learn how to unlock your speaking superpowers, run through practical exercises to practice them, and get to meet fellow superheroes. Think of it like a real life X-Men school. The sessions run 1830-2030 UK Time on Mondays from 7th October to 4th November. The sessions of course build on each other but can be enjoyed individually as well if you are unable to attend every week. When it come to facilitating a workshop it’s super important to remember: 1. Understand your audience: Who are you talking to and what have they been through/ currently struggling with? 2. Make it Exciting, Engaging and Educational: No one wants to sit and be lectured at. How can you turn a slide into an active or a opportunity to play music while peers connect with one another about the questions presented. 3. Don’t make this about YOU: Great facilitators know how to put the focus on the audience. Don’t over-talk but lead a guided experience, while sharing your perspective/ expertise. 4. ALWAYS, ALWAYS , ALWAYS give out a parting gift /resource: usual a one pager that captures the main point of the workshop. Also it could be next steps on how to implement what you just learned as well. When you focus on these areas you will start to see the feedback improve and your audience will walk away confident to solve the problem that they are facing. #keynotespeaker #workshopfacilitator #studentengagement #speaking
