The Power of Sensory Programs for Neurodivergent Children and Their Families Over the weekend, my family and I had the pleasure of visiting Imagine Children's Museum in Everett. It's one of our favorite places to explore, but it can often be overwhelming due to the bustling crowds, noise, and general chaos of a museum full of children. However, once a month, they offer a sensory time that has truly transformed our experience. During sensory time, admission is limited, and the museum provides headphones, fidgets, and other sensory items that are not only available but commonly used. This inclusive environment has made my children feel more comfortable and less shy about utilizing these tools. Additionally, the museum has specially trained staff members stationed throughout to lend a helping hand during inevitable meltdowns. The impact of these sensory programs on our community is immeasurable. As a parent of four children, two of whom struggle with noise, crowds, and chaos, our family often misses out on activities that "typical" families enjoy. However, thanks to these sensory times, our entire family can now fully enjoy our time at the museum, creating cherished memories together. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity. I would love to hear about your favorite museum that offers sensory time! Let's celebrate and spread the word about these incredible resources that make a world of difference for neurodivergent children and their families.
