🌍 Heartfelt Reflection on Recent Events in Kenya❤ 🌍 Recently, Kenya witnessed peace demonstrations by Youth and Local Communities advocating for more sustainable, resilient, and equitable communities. This has been one of the most historical moments in our endeavors at Kijiji Kwetu, as we engaged with youth from diverse communities in Nairobi and Thika to push our leaders toward greater accountability and transparency.⚖ 🤝 Meeting with Mama Mbogas, farmers, local businessmen, and businesswomen during this endeavor proved that we are stronger when united.💪 🌍 However, what deeply saddens us is the Githurai incident. On the fateful 25th of June, children, youth, women, men, and local communities were killed in cold blood. This tragedy occurred barely two months after our Kijiji Kwetu: Our Sustainable Village Initiative visit to the Goshen Children's Home and the local communities in our efforts. (https://lnkd.in/dGMM2UrS) Our hearts bleed for all the lives lost, for the children left orphaned, for the women turned widows, and for the men turned widowers. 💔 Our hearts bleed for the communities left destabilized and hurt. 💔 Our hearts bleed for the Ngong residents who have recently experienced such an ordeal. 💔 🌱 We sat down and thought, "Do you know how much it costs to raise a child from age zero to 21 only to be killed by a bullet?" Raising that child involves finances, emotional support, prayers, and a village.👧🏿👦🏾 ✌ Our call to action for all leaders: being a leader isn't about wielding power or authority but being selfless and kind. Be human. We addressed the failings and hypocrisy of the feminist movement’s silence on the ongoing genocide in Gaza, while uplifting the vital work of women-led grassroots groups in addressing the immediate needs of the people of Gaza. Over time and post-Oslo, the feminist movement has been co-opted by traditional NGOs. 💡 Israel has killed over 9000 women in Gaza and women represent 75% of the injured. By annihilating women and their function in community and family care, this genocide is an assault on all facets of Palestinian life and society in Gaza. 💡 The demonization of Palestinian men through harmful and racist propaganda, as well as the devaluing of their lives as less innocent or worthy of protection than women and children is also a feminist issue. It is a feminist responsibility to call for the protection of ALL life in Gaza. 💡 We can incrementally reclaim the feminist struggle in service of Gaza by supporting locally led efforts driven by and for Palestinians. This is how we circumvent the problematic, conditional funding of traditional NGOs whose mandates undermine the principles of self-determination, decolonization, and liberation.  💡 True feminism is advocating for all life. To keep ourselves committed to the fight, we must cultivate hope as a discipline (as quoted by bell hooks), without romanticizing the ugliness of the past, present, and future of the Palestinian struggle. 

In light of the critical situation in Haiti, it's essential for countries worldwide to come together and support those in need. The recent events have shown the urgent need for assistance and solidarity. PLEASE join hands and stand with Haiti during this challenging time. Our partners in South Sudan, Transformation of the World in Christ, successfully conducted a 3-day peace and reconciliation conference between the Misseriya community in Sudan and the Dinka of Twic County in South Sudan. The conference was attended by 100 representatives from Misseriya and 100 representatives from Dinka Twic community. This peace conference has led to... • The free movement of people and goods. • Rebuilding of markets along the border. • Inter-governmental relationships within the local governments. • Reduced child trafficking and child labor. • Access to clean and safe drinking water. • The establishment of new trading centers. • Operationalization of schools. This is a very significant step in the stabilization of the communities living along the Sudan and South Sudan borders. #nonprofit

🌍 Spotlight on Sudan: Embrace APAC presents #WorldRefugeeDay 🌍 At LinkedIn, we believe in fostering spaces of belonging for underrepresented and historically excluded employees and allies. Embrace is an employee resource group aimed at amplifying the experiences of marginalized groups, including displaced immigrants, refugees, and first-generation employees. Recently, we highlighted the crisis in Sudan through an insightful session led by Abdalla Abakar, a Sudanese Microsoft employee based in Munich. Abdalla provided a comprehensive overview of the conflict in Sudan, tracing its origins to General Bashir's rule and the use of militia in Darfur. He explained the ongoing power struggle between the national army and rapid support forces, resulting in widespread displacement, violence, and a severe humanitarian crisis. With over 10 million people displaced, a collapsed healthcare system, and a looming food crisis, the situation is dire. How big is 10 million? It’s nearly double of Singapore’s entire population that is seeking refuge. Abdalla's association in Germany, Hilat Al Bir, has been instrumental in building schools and healthcare facilities in Sudan and is now focusing on providing food and basic necessities to the displaced population. Violence escalates in eastern #DRCongo Following the recent attacks by the militant group M23 close to the provincial capital of Goma in eastern DR Congo, the situation for #refugees in the region is worsening. "Thankfully, our projects in Ituri are not currently affected by this wave of violence from the M23. However, other armed groups are terrorising people in the Ituri region," says Miriam Suhr, our Program Manager for the DR Congo. "Of course, this increasing violence also has an impact on our work. Supply routes are becoming inaccessible, for example, and in some health zones we have to provide medical care to more and more people due to the increasing number of refugees. Donating to humanitarian organizations- There are various NGOs and humanitarian groups that provide aid to Palestinians. Research and choose reputable organizations to donate to. 2. Advocacy:Raise awareness about the Palestinian situation, write to your government representatives, and participate in peaceful demonstrations or events that support their cause. 3. Educate yourself:Learn about the history and current issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Understanding the complexities of the situation is crucial. 4. Promote dialogue and peace: Encourage peaceful negotiations and dialogues between parties involved in the conflict. 5. Support businesses: If possible, buy products from Palestinian businesses or organizations to help their local economy. 6.
