This post strikes a cord for me, as throughout my career, I have always associated my work place as kind of a sports team. The dynamics are so similar....note all the " " quotations for similarities. Each of us have our strengths and weaknesses, and do best in specific roles and duties. At times we all may become a bit lazy in our activities or actions, and it takes co-workers and coaches to, at times, challenge us to reach for new goals and maybe get out of our comfort zones, in order to continue to grow. How we accept those challenges from others and ourselves, tell a lot about the "player" we are. And nothing, absolutely nothing, takes the place of hard (and smart) work, which is not real fun....just like training camp....but is needed for all of us to keep our skills and in our business, the relationships with clients, contractors and fellow co-workers, strong. Sometimes it takes some help from others to make the "block" (or submittal) because we are a team not an individual "athlete". It takes self discipline, but if you are not happy with your "deal" (commissions or pay) or being a "back-up player" instead of VIP...only you can improve your ranking through effort. A little extra effort goes a long way, in sports and in the work place. Go Fins! Go Visium!
