Wetlands are important features in the landscape that provide numerous beneficial services for people, fish, and wildlife. Some of these services, or functions, include protecting and improving water quality, providing fish and wildlife habitats, storing floodwaters, and maintaining surface water flow during dry periods. These valuable functions are the result of the unique natural characteristics of wetlands. Here are 7 benefits of restoring wetlands #imagovtt #wetlands #trinidadandtobago

Wildlife crossings, like the Cervidae Peak Wildlife Overpass, are already making a difference in Idaho. They improve highway safety and protect deer and elk populations. Our vision for alternate routes includes these proven practices—because a safer Idaho means safer wildlife, too. Canada’s Migratory Birds Sanctuaries and National Wildlife Areas were created to protect wildlife and their habitats, including migratory birds and species at risk! Enforcement officers patrol these protected areas to make sure visitors follow the rules. If dogs are allowed, they must be on a leash, otherwise they could fetch you a ticket. Remember to: ✔️ Only visit locations open to the public ✔️ Plan your visit during opening hours ✔️ Stay on the trails ✔️ Leave no trace ✔️ Park only in designated areas If you see birds or nests being disturbed, call Canadian Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or 1-800-711-1800 (Quebec). It’s estimated that more than 20,000 animals are killed every year on highways within the Algonquin to Adirondack corridor. On Highway 401 alone, summer traffic reaches over 30,000 vehicles daily— leaving animals, on average, only 5 seconds to cross safely. Roads like Highway 401 act like a ribbon of death— cutting through vital habitats, disrupting wildlife movement and leading to alarming rates of wildlife-vehicle collisions and mortality. Without action, populations of species like fishers, gray ratsnakes and snapping turtles are at serious risk as they attempt to navigate our human-dominated landscape. Sign our Action Alert today urging the Ontario Government to support wildlife crossings in on Highway 401 in the Frontenac Arch region. Together, we can help protect animals and restore connectivity. https://lnkd.in/drN7dUTY

🚤 Boating and water activities during the summer are pure bliss, but they also require extra awareness and security. Water adds complexity to accidents, making rescues harder. We're proud that Carbyne technology played a key role in this Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rescue. 🌊🦅 Check out our video to see how our accurate geolocation technology helped rescue a pilot who crashed in the Florida Keys. Stay safe, and contact emergency responders immediately if you need help. Are you a PSAP, who haven't seen our tech in action? How do we #protect the #land? It's a question we hear a lot, so we added the answer to our FAQ page. We protect wildlife habitats by: ⛔ Preserving critical areas like watersheds; 🌲 Implementing buffer zones that won't be developed or disturbed; and, ✅ Following Idaho Fish and Game guidelines for land #stewardship. Our approach includes habitat restoration and creating wildlife corridors 🦨 to ensure connectivity, working closely with local biologists to adapt plans as needed to safeguard native species. Here's a link to our FAQ page if you'd like to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g_ndhHBq

The State Water Project obtained its new permit today- the equivalent of the Fed’s Biological Opinion, which both Fed & State used to operate under together. With efforts to work together again like Voluntary Agreements what does new permit mean? The link below discusses new science and tools will it help to be more adaptive to provide more water while helping species? Or is it lip service? https://lnkd.in/gvrnkSEC
Today, DWR received a new operating permit from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for the State Water Project. This new Incidental Take Permit will help provide the resources to better protect endangered fish species while maintaining a reliable water supply for Californians across the state. “Extreme storms and extended droughts mean we need to be as nimble as possible in operating our water infrastructure. DWR remains committed to using the best available science to operate the State Water Project to support the water supply needs of California’s communities while protecting fish and wildlife.” – DWR Director Karla Nemeth Learn more about the new operating permit issued for the California’s State Water Project at https://lnkd.in/gY4Br-_v #California #Water #Storms #Infrastructure #StateWaterProject

Simply claiming to support the environment does not equate to actually supporting it.
Sad, totally unnecessary, bad for wildlife and destructive! Forest management treatment plans were in place BUT radical environmental groups sued to stop them and now wildfires are decimating wildlife habitat. Details ➡ https://lnkd.in/g6KsrngR
