🌍 Reflecting on Earth Day 2024: A Journey of Geovation's Impact 🌱 As the sun sets on another Earth Day this week, let’s pause and celebrate the tireless efforts of our Geovation Ecosystem, and spotlight some of the trailblazers who’ve harnessed geospatial data to safeguard our planet.✨ From our Geovation challenge winners Satsense Solutions who's work empowers informed decision-making for sustainable land use, to Planet Patrol who serve as guardians of our oceans in the fight against plastic pollution, our community is filled with exceptional talent who are striving to protect our Earth and all it's inhabitants. Not to mention some of our Accelerator Programme stars, like Verna who's software helps manage land for a better environment, NatureBound who are leveraging AI for thriving biospheres, hesti who's software platform promotes sustainable construction methods and RouteZero who are on a mission to decarbonise travel, offering eco-friendly options. And the list goes on and on... Our 2024 Geovation Award category, Nature & Environment celebrates all innovations using location data to combat climate change, restore habitats, and nurture biodiversity - setting the stage for the latest cutting-edge projects that will shape the future of our planet. Last year's award winners Earth Genome are doing just that, with their integration of satellite data, machine learning, and human-centered design to inform and evaluate impactful strategies addressing urgent climate and conservation challenges. 🛰️ This year, the category will be judged by global leaders in the field of geospatial, including Sarah Hodgetts director of the Geospatial Commission, Jarkko Koskinen director of Maanmittauslaitos, National Land Survey of Finland, Lara Prades Head of Research Assessment and Monitoring at World Food Programme, and more to be announce soon.
