In collaboration with Elengy, we're excited to reveal our new case study highlighting the deployment of AP Sensing’s Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) technology at the Fos-Tonkin LNG terminal in Fos sur Mer, France. This project showcases the critical importance of advanced monitoring solutions in LNG terminals to enhance safety and prevent potential incidents. Our DTS technology, specifically designed for challenging environments, was implemented to monitor the terminal’s jetty for thermal variations and potential leaks. The system's high spatial resolution allows for precise measurements of temperature changes at multiple points, making it possible to detect leaks and other thermal anomalies swiftly and accurately. Additionally, a seismic rack was installed to provide enhanced stability and resistance against seismic events. One of the standout features of our DTS system is its ability to deliver real-time data, which is essential for leak detection and swift preventative action. Furthermore, the technology is designed to be low-maintenance and is unaffected by electromagnetic interference or extreme conditions, underscoring its suitability for critical applications in harsh environments. The successful integration of our system with Elengy's infrastructure underscores our commitment to driving safety and efficiency in the energy sector. In late September, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) representatives announced plans to advance and develop a new $21.8 billion regional transmission expansion plan. The transmission plan, also known as the Long-Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) Tranche 2.1, will consist of 765-kV transmission ‘highway’ that will extend across the Midwest. During a two-day workshop conducted by MISO officials, stakeholders were presented a final draft portfolio for the LRTP Tranche 2.1 plan. The final draft of the LRTP Tranche 2.1 plan highlighted the 24 transmission and substation related projects proposed for the MISO region, along with the electric power and economic benefits. MISO officials expect for final planning to conclude with the MISO’s Board of Directors approval by December of 2024. The second tranche LRTP is one of four tranche plans under MISO’s LRTP initiative. Tranche 1 was previously approved back in July of 2022, whereas Tranches 3 and 4 will undergo a review and planning procedure at a later date. #MISO #LongRangeTransmissionPlanning #Midwest #Transmission #TransmissionLines #Substations #ElectricPower #ElectricInfrastructure #RegionalTransmission #LTRP #Tranche2.1 #MAPSearch #ENvision

This month the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s (MISO) Board of Directors announced the approval of the 2023 MISO Transmission Expansion Report (MTEP). The 2023 MTEP centers on the development of approximately 572 transmission enhancement projects. The projects approved under the MTEP are funded via a $9 billion dollar grant and total over 7,000 miles of new or upgraded transmission lines. Of the $9 billion funding, approximately $3.9 billion will be allocated to Louisiana and Texas transmission projects due to an increased need for enhanced transmission infrastructure and electrical generation demands. Along with constructing and upgrading transmission lines in the MISO region, the projects under the 2023 MTEP further involve adding new power generation assets, retiring aging power stations, and providing new electrical load upgrades and additions. Overall, the 2023 MTEP is one of various initiatives proposed by MISO to ensure electrical power and transmission reliability within their ISO region. #miso #MTEP #TransmissionPlanning #TransmissionInfrastructure #TransmissionExpansion #electricpower #MAPSearch #ENvision
