I can't say I've thought about barcodes much in my life. Like many things, they've simply simmered along in the background, existing and being taken for granted. Then, I assigned a post about barcode systems to Brinda Gulati... This year, we’re celebrating the 50th Scanniversary of the humble barcode—50 years of beeps, boops, and conspiracy theories (because, obviously barcodes = the mark of the beast, right?). From its first scan on a pack of Wrigley’s gum in 1974 to being zapped 10 billion times daily—it’s safe to say this tech has come a long way. In this big ass post, Brinda breaks down how to set up your own barcode inventory system in just 5 steps. Say goodbye to lost stock and hello to pure, unadulterated data accuracy. Plus, you'll hear some wisdom from an old tech hippie, and yes, there’s a zebra joke or two. You know, for science. 🦓 So, scroll into the comments and click on the thing.
