Join IJC in celebrating today, the International Day of Peace! By the end of 2022, 108.4 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations, according to The UN Refugee Agency. We are now witnessing the highest levels of displacement on record. Unlike criminal and family court proceedings, immigrants facing deportation in immigration court do not have a right to counsel if they cannot afford one. Without counsel, most immigrants face a complex and adversarial system alone. Those with representation are six times more likely to see a successful outcome. IJC's free counsel has delivered a 93% success rate in completed cases, in contrast to a 16% success rate when an immigrant is without counsel, and a 3% success rate when a detained immigrant is without counsel.

Welcome to the IJC community, Fatima Khan 🎉
I’m happy to share that I’ve started a new position as a Justice Fellow within the Children's Protection Project at National Immigrant Justice Center! Under this position, I would be providing direct legal representation to unaccompanied immigrant children who have been placed in federal custody in the greater Chicago area. This role is incredibly meaningful to me as I work alongside a dedicated team to help protect and uplift vulnerable communities. I also want to express my deep gratitude to Immigrant Justice Corps for this incredible opportunity. Their support has empowered me to take on this important work, and I’m honored to be part of a fellowship dedicated to ensuring access to justice for those who need it most. Looking forward to growing, learning, and making a difference in the lives of immigrant children and families!

So proud of our Fellows and all the work they do ❤️
This is the happiness and joy I feel working as a Justice Fellow in the Unaccompanied Children Program at Immigrant Justice Corps. Two kids drew this picture today to express their dreams and feelings. This picture has triggered me to never give up and work unconditionally to help these children realize their innocent beautiful dreams. So grateful to Immigrant Justice Corps for offering me this unique opportunity to live such wonderful moments with innocent children.

Social justice and immigration advocates said the bill is critical because people are often dissuaded from seeking the care they need in fear of deportation. As anti-immigrant rhetoric has risen nationwide, advocates said, the bill, called the Immigrant Trust Act, could become one of the few immigrant protection laws in New Jersey. https://lnkd.in/dfU5QdNe #immigrationnews
