This (see below) is really important. The background to the widely shared, commonly referenced International Women's Day Campaign with the weak & meaningless "Inspire Inclusion" catchphrase is very murky (see more here https://lnkd.in/gkkr9bjx) Recommended follow is UN Women, "Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress". This is the message I will be amplifying.

Your annual reminder not to get drawn into the fake International Women's Day campaign. Instead, follow UN Women and learn about this year's official theme: Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. Do not use the incorrect hashtag or post photos of yourself doing a silly symbol with your hands. It's not about eating cupcakes with purple icing or attending networking events. Rather it is all about finding out how you can do more to help women in your local community or elsewhere in the world. #iwd2024

I study concrete deterioration. I am also interested in increasing equity, diversity and inclusion in the engineering community!.

I didn't know about this controversy but definitely very important to count her in! Often boys get opportunities that girls don't and those opportunities follow them throughout their life (e.g. equal pay for equal work, access to paid internships in their chosen field, the ability to get back on track after big life changes like having kids etc etc).
