When we say #AppleWallet or #GoogleWallet what do you think of? Probably concert tickets, boarding passes, payment cards, etc. 🎟 And yes, you’d be correct. Apple and Google wallets have traditionally been used for these purposes and serve as a convenient and quick solution to having an ungainly, sizeable physical wallet in your pocket. But what we haven’t seen, is people capitalising on this convenient and secure function for anything more imaginative 💡 The wallet function is a mechanism to present information, which does not need to be thought of within the confines of wallet-based items, despite its name. That’s why we have innovated (one of Coderus’ core values!) and created an Apple/Google wallet based scorecard! Not only is this versatile and able to be updated in real time with scores as challenges are completed, it also serves as a keepsake for users, stored neatly in their digital wallet. 👛 We’ll be launching our Challenge Trails 🗺 to the public soon, which is where you’ll be able to test out our wallet-based scorecard for yourself. Keep your eyes peeled for the next release! 👀

Apple made changes in the terms of the CTF Apple has made changes (https://lnkd.in/e-yKRXkq ) in the terms of the Core Technology Fee: 1. Application developers who do not have any monetization are exempt from paying CTF. 2. If a small application (with an annual income of less than €10M) goes viral within the first three years, CTF will not be charged. But if the income is between €10M and €50M, the developer will start paying CTF up to €1M per year for the first three years. For income over €50M per year, CTF is charged in full.

#Apple continue to make their mark in the payments ecosystem, expanding 1/ the use of #ApplePay in e-commerce, and 2/ their ability to remain relevant in #payment journeys through: - the integration of BNPL functionality (via Monzo Bank and HSBC in UK🇬🇧 ) - easier, safer wallet provisioning by tapping your card 💳 to the device - better #P2P payments (for #AppleCash ie US 🇺🇸 users) via #AirDrop Apple continue to subtly change user #behaviour through better #UX, ensuring they are increasingly the de facto way to pay for Apple customers, and providing multiple jumping off points for Apple to supplant / replace others in the payment ecosystem at a later date as THE dominant player at the top of the click / tap stream. #WWDC

Why does Apple opening up NFC payments get so much attention compared to Android, which has had an open NFC policy for years? I think it comes down to a few key things: 1. Market perception and ecosystem power Apple has this unique ability to set trends in the tech world. Whenever they make a move, whether it’s launching a new feature or loosening up restrictions, it grabs attention because it often signals a broader industry shift. Plus, Apple’s ecosystem is so tightly integrated that any change they make with core tech like NFC can ripple across the entire ecosystem. 2. Security and privacy Apple has always been about user safety. They kept NFC locked down for a long time to maintain that image. Now, by opening it up, they’re basically saying they’re confident they can still keep things secure while offering more functionality. 3. Closed vs. open loop Let’s be honest, Apple has always been more restrictive compared to Android when it comes to how developers can integrate with its software and hardware. So when Apple opens up something they’ve kept on lockdown, it’s a big deal. On the other hand, Android being open is what everyone expects, so it doesn’t make as much noise. 4. Strategic timing Apple is increasingly focusing on services as a major revenue stream, and opening NFC aligns with expanding their ecosystem in areas like payments, transit, and secure access. This could add another layer of significance to the decision.

Drivers’ Licenses in Apple Wallet Apple quietly launched the ability for people to store their drivers’ licenses in Apple Wallet if they are from the four states listed below. This is another step Apple has taken to be in the center of digital identity, not just payments. It’s taken 10 years since ApplePay first launched to get here, but it’s good to see it finally happening…. #digitalidentity #mobilepayments #applepay
