At Teva, we believe in creating equitable and sustainable solutions to help enable more people to get the medicines they need, while contributing to strengthening healthcare systems. As part of our commitments, we have successfully launched 7 out of the 8 access programs we committed to by 2025. These initiatives are tailored to meet the needs of vulnerable populations across the globe, including in France, Ghana, USA, Israel, East and Southern Africa, Spain, and Chile. Each program is designed to break down barriers to healthcare and ensure that everyone, especially children battling cancer, can receive the treatment and support they need. September is #ChildhoodCancerAwarnessMonth – a time to reflect on how we can better understand and address the needs of children affected by cancer and their families. - In Canada, approximately 1,500 children and adolescents are diagnosed with pediatric cancer each year. - Children with refractory, relapsed, or metastatic cancer face an overall survival rate of less than 15%. - More than 80% of adult survivors of childhood cancer experience long-term side effects. At ACCESS, we are integrating the voice of Persons With Lived Experience with those of researchers, healthcare providers, industry leaders, and partner organizations who are committed to achieving better health outcomes and quality of life for children with cancer and their families. By doing so, we are advancing pediatric cancer experience, science, and survivorship – and transforming lives. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. 1 in 257 children & adolescents will be diagnosed with #cancer before the age of 20, and while that number is too high, mortality has dramatically reduced since the 1970's by almost half. But cancer remains the leading cause of disease-related death among children ages 1 to 19. Today's 85% survival rate among all childhood cancers highlight both the need to dive deeper into those that remain a treatment challenge, and to focus also on quality of life, and survivorship. So what is American Cancer Society doing about it in the patient support realm? Currently, 7 Hope Lodge communities provide no-cost housing to pediatric cancer patients and their families ages 12 and up. And we're on a journey to accommodate adolescents at all 31 of our Lodges. The recipients of a second round of our Pups Assisting with Support (PAWS) grants to support animal assisted therapy programs at children's hospital will be announced soon. The experience after the first round of grants was eye-opening, and the measurable impact was large. In addition to stellar leadership from Maggie Rogers, MPH & Laura Makaroff, we have also hired a new Director of Survivorship & Wellness (announcement coming soon ) to build our programming in the post-diagnosis spaces for persons with cancer and their caregivers. And much more is happening in other parts of the organization. A life-changing diagnosis for patients and families, and an experience we feel passionate about improving. https://lnkd.in/gYxhPek2
