“Last year, we got additional funding to get more project participants to the project that was promoted on the website of iMPACT Direct. This year, iMPACT direct shared an opportunity for a grant that we successfully applied for.” 🗨️ Solomon Asiamah Okyere explains how the 3-year partnership with iMPACT direct helped his NGO to increase income over the years. It is one of the goals we have as iMPACT direct, because when underfunded locally-led NGOs increase their income, they can reach out to more people living in extreme poverty, and thus make more impact. 💗 Find all the impact we made for our partner-NGOs in 4 African countries in 2023 in our Annual Report 2023. “We have a healthy communication with iMPACT direct, they always communicate anything that concerns its partners. They do not do anything without informing its partners.” 💬 Anonymous response in our end-of-the-year survey. For us, this really shows how we like to work together with our partner NGOs. 🤗We believe in equal and transparent partnerships. We not only ask this from our partners but we at iMPACT direct also aim for these goals🎯 As iMPACT direct we aim to support locally-led, underfunded NGOs. By increasing their income, these organisations can reach more people living in extreme poverty and thus make a greater impact. 💪🏾 💗 Find all the impact we made for our partner-NGOs in 4 African countries in 2023 in our Annual Report 2023. 33 Years of Impact: Adeso Celebrates and Looks to the Future: In 2024, Adeso celebrates 33 years. We have reached 8.7 million people (about half the population of New York) in Somalia, Kenya, and South Sudan, providing essential services like cash transfers, education, environmental protection, and water sanitation and hygiene. We are committed to using our 33 years of experience to create a more equitable and just future for all. That is why we will launch Kuja, a social enterprise powered by Adeso. It offers concrete solutions to all actors in the aid system seeking to tackle #localization barriers. Pledge for change are reimagining INGOs’ roles from the inside out. It is a coalition of organizations representing a mutual commitment toward building a stronger aid ecosystem based on the #principles of solidarity, humility, self-determination, and equality. It will take 200,000,000 Afrikans giving $5 each to raise $1 billion. One of the things holding us back from Afrikan Liberation is financial liberation. Do 200,000,000 Afrikans want Liberation bad enough to give $5 dollars to communities/organizations doing the work that will liberate us all? As an Afrikan, please share what it would take, what you would want of an organization, to give $5 to the work it’s doing. #FundtheRevolution #BeAPartOfYourLiberation

Blending-Grants & Resource Mobilisation|Finance| Administration|Business Development|Leadership & Academics.
Thanks Micheal for this senior and strategic insights curved from your professional experience. The three reflective rhetoric questions test the contextual relevance, local capacity & empowerment, sustainabilty & ownership and finally economic feasibility among others in as far as the localisation agenda is concerned. Whether the localisation agenda is "a sinking or sailing boat " is a paradox keeping everyone in the boardroom tight-lipped and anxious. Wheteher or not the agenda will deliver identity, continuity, and transformation remains a total suspense to the development partners.
Five years ago (01/Oct/2019) I walked into the @CAREUganda office to start on a new role as the #Program #Director. Sooooo....it's officially five years at CARE. I was coming from Kigali Rwanda where I spent 4 years with VSO the Head of Programs for VSO Rwanda I had one of the best orientation by the CD then Delphine Pinault and I was all excited to join this highly respected brand. A few weeks into the job, the team took me through a deep dive into the portfolio which is an important KPI for any PD, and that was somewhat scary. Over 70% of the program was humanitarian, mostly directly implemented by care, mostly annual grants, mostly less one million dollars. The good news is that the CD then Delphine Pinault had established very good relationships with donors and there were a few bigger opportunities in the pipeline including EURO 8m from EU for 3 years, and we built on this goodwill & foundation to grow the country program to where it is today and still growing. Together with the leadership, staff and partners, we grew from $8m a year in 2020 to about $15 of multiyear, and multimillion, nexus and development programs, funded by diverse donors. We fully localized and all our programs are implemented by local partners. Looking back, our main success factors have been #leadership foresight thanks to Apollo B. Gabazira, clear #strategy or north star as Apollo calls it, commited staff and partners and #fundraising capability across the federation. As I start a new season in this role, I have three questions keeping me awake: 1) Will #donors fully support and sufficiently fund #Localisation like #ECHO in Uganda? 2) Will INGOs like CARE fully transform themselves to accommodate the unique demands of #Localisation? 3) Will #Local and #National #Organisations fully reposition themselves as trusted program implementers? That's my reflection on my 5th Anniversary at CARE. What are your thoughts? Cheers, Mike Picture credit: taken by Robert Ekinu, CARE Uganda media team after a high level #Localisation event this year in Kampala with ECHO, UN, UNNGOF, NGO Bureau and others.

WATCH DISCUSSION | AGOA: A Catalyst for Youth Empowerment? The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) has been renewed, extending duty-free exports to the American market for 30 African countries until 2041. This is a significant development that could have a major impact on South Africa's economy. Afrika Tikkun, a non-profit youth organization, believes AGOA will be a catalyst for youth empowerment. They argue that the increased trade opportunities created by AGOA will lead to job creation and economic growth, which will benefit young people in particular. By: ENCA https://lnkd.in/dceTe-RJ

"Only 2% of aid budget gets to these local NGOs. While they implement at least 70% of the impact." In this video, our colleague Martha Mwangi explains why we partner with locally-led NGOs, and how we do this. At iMPACT direct, we aim to support locally-led, underfunded NGOs. By increasing their income, these organisations can reach more people living in extreme poverty and thus make a greater impact. 💪🏾 💗 Find all the impact we made for our partner-NGOs in 4 African countries in 2023 in our Annual Report 2023 here: https://lnkd.in/eQQkcDcr 🗞️ Stay up to date by subscribing to our newsletter here: https://lnkd.in/e6h2aM-9 @martha.mwangie #ShiftthePower #localisation #locallyled #African #NonProfits #NGOs #empowerment #goodcauses #socialimpact #Kenya #Cameroon #Tanzania #Ghana #livesimproved #flexiblefunding #corefunding #projectfunding #socialimpactstartshere #localexpertise #localexpertisematters #SDG1 #nopoverty #SDG2 #zerohunger #SDG4 #qualityofeducation

Friends of Adaklu is a different kind of NGO. It is Ghanaian registered and is devoted to improving the lives of the people of the Adaklu Volta Region Ghana. Adaklu is enormously challenging because there is little potable water, scant electricity, and very poor soil conditions. FOA works with communities to assess their needs and help them achieve their goals - one project at a time. FOA is big on follow through and watches over the communities where it works, providing workshops, marketing help, research, information, etc. We regularly assess the impact and effectiveness of our projects to ensure that we catch problems while they are small and easily corrected. We move carefully and slowly using what we have learned to improve our efficacy from one community to the next. Of course, this takes money but since FOA is 100% volunteer run very penny raised goes to the people of Adaklu. FOA's focus is on education, food security, health care and economic development. We work with the villagers to foster self-reliance, and entrepreneurship through sustainable projects. FOA provides tools, skills, information, and organizational support, so the community can help itself break the poverty cycle. We work with communities to discover what the feel they need to get ahead and then we work with them providing the tools, information, education and resources they need to be successful. We work in partnership with international aid organizations to develop sustainable solutions that address the needs of the Adaklu communities. Our goal is to make the villages of Adaklu a model of what is possible when like-minded people put their heads together and tap into international resources. We hope to be a testament to perseverance, ingenuity, and the humanity that binds us all. #nonprofitorganization #volunteering #Adaklu
