Employers that offer lactation programs for new parents have employee retention rates of 83%-94% after maternity leave, compared to the national average of 59%. SimpliFed takes babyfeeding support a step farther than lactation support alone: Their nonjudgmental approach is tailored to each family’s personal baby feeding goals, regardless of whether they want to use breast, bottle, or both. We’re so pleased to offer SimpliFed in the Beanstalk Benefits Suite. The comprehensive virtual support provided by CEO Andrea Ippolito and the SimpliFed team of Allies makes a difference: 87% of SimpliFed patients feed with breast milk for at least 3 months, compared to a national average of 69% – and that data translates to lower medical costs and better baby health. If you want a platform that supports working mothers and fathers, the Beanstalk Benefits Suite was built for you. Strong support for #postpartum families is a topic close to my heart and something we strongly prioritize at Millie through home visits, proactive risk screenings, lactation care, postpartum support groups, app-based resources, and more. Talia Borgo CNM, WHNP, RN and I were thrilled to have the Emmy-winning Julian Glover, Anchor & Race/Culture Reporter at ABC News visit Millie to discuss first hand perspectives on the importance of #paidfamilyleave for the recovery needs of new parents, breastfeeding success rates, secure bonding, and infant health. Featured research by Maya Rossin-Slater of Stanford University School of Medicine notes that only 60% of U.S. workers are eligible for the Family Medical Leave Act, which provides just 12 weeks of job-protected, unpaid leave for new parents. Even fewer parents are eligible for paid leave. Given the diversity of the population we care for, we see this regularly at Millie. In healthcare we talk a lot about outcomes being driven by social determinants — paid family leave is an integral part of the solution for the most vulnerable families who feel intense pressure to return to work. I believe this is a crucial topic that often goes unnoticed but is essential for both men and women to be aware of: pumping at work for breastfeeding moms. Being a mother in the United States can be challenging, especially when striving to embrace a natural approach, amidst the pressing need to return to work shortly after childbirth. As a mother of 4 with my first daughter born on June 5th, 2024, I understand the concerns many working and soon-to-be moms face regarding providing the best for their little ones. For those worried about this transition, here is an important piece of information - you are protected by law! Section 4207 of the Affordable Care Act amended the Fair Labor Standards Act to ensure that: - You are entitled to reasonable break time to express breast milk for your nursing child for up to 1 year post-birth. - Your employer must provide a private, non-bathroom space, shielded from view and interruptions, for expressing breast milk. This provision ensures that working moms can prioritize their child's well-being without compromising their professional commitments. It's essential for all moms to be aware of their rights and feel empowered to navigate this phase with confidence. #BreastfeedingMoms #WorkingMoms #ParentingJourney

Respectful maternity care (RMC) is a well-described, rational approach for improving person-centered and equitable intrapartum and postpartum care, but it lacks a standard definition, clear measurement method, or evidence of effectiveness. New research from AHRQ explored the use of 12 tools for measuring RMC. #MaternalHealth https://lnkd.in/ereqvMBA

The For Baby's Sake Trust supports the recent #BirthTrauma Inquiry by the APPG, which reveals alarming insights into the UK's maternity care. The findings, which were shared with ministers on Monday, reveal that substandard #MaternityCare is frequently tolerated as normal, leading to devastating consequences for many women and their families. Over 1,300 women shared distressing experiences, highlighting the urgent need for change. Key recommendations, which we wholeheartedly echo, include: 👉Appointing a Maternity Commissioner. 👉Ensuring safe staffing levels. 👉Universal access to maternal mental health services. 👉Addressing care inequalities, especially for parents of global majority heritage. We stand with Make Birth Better, Five X More, and all of the incredible individuals and organisations calling for a commitment to improved maternity care. Let’s work together to create a maternity system where poor care is the exception, not the rule. https://lnkd.in/ewiFYt3A
