A team member asked if thought leadership is only for top-tier individuals like CEOs or book authors in my Thought Leadership and Personal Branding workshop this week. She went on to explain why… I jumped in: “Are you worried that you're not good enough to participate in thought leadership, sharing your expertise and sharing your thoughts on how you see the world differently?” Think again! Thought leadership is for everyone, including you. The idea of thought leadership is sharing your unique perspective, regardless of your title or status. It's about showcasing real experiences, including the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Here's a simple 3-step process to get started on your thought leadership journey: 1️⃣ Reflect: Journal about your daily professional experiences and insights. What problem did you solve or haven't solved yet? What did you learn? What inspired you? 2️⃣ Share: Don't keep those insights to yourself! Share them on your personal LinkedIn profile, just like a "Captain's log" on Star Trek. Remember, authenticity is key—don't worry about perfection! 3️⃣ Impact: Your posts aren't just for you—they're for your colleagues and peers facing similar challenges. By sharing, you're not only contributing to the conversation but also helping others navigate their professional journeys. Your voice matters, and your experiences are valuable. Hi, Guys, Thoughts & Lessons of the day!, Pronoy here. Let's discuss "Presented or Shown vs Actual or Reality" in the context of Awards & Recognitions and Leadership Positions. Over the last decade, I have observed that many individuals and organizations globally build their authority and credibility by showcasing their Awards & Recognitions. It's great if these are real, earned through excellent work, performance, and massive internal achievements. However, many of these awards are paid or fake. In my view, such accolades are almost worthless and a waste of money or a misguided marketing strategy. If you truly shine like a star, you must possess all the qualities and abilities of a star. Relying on external accolades without these qualities won't make you a permanent star. Genuine stars prove their worth through their overall work and actions globally. You don't need Awards & Recognitions to showcase who you are. Remember, Awards & Recognitions should earn you, not the other way around. For example, in the startup world, many founders and owners attempt to become the CEO or main leader of their company. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. You can't just become the CEO by calling yourself one or through self-promotion. You have to pay the price for years, even decades, and must possess all the necessary qualities, abilities, and experience. Without these, you are merely faking it to yourself and the world. Every company or business has a long-term vision or goal. If you want to become the main leader of the organization, you should know and figure out how the organization will achieve that vision or goal. I believe that life is a continuous learning experiment—especially when it comes to our careers and passions. Over the past five years, I’ve intentionally sought out experiences that broadened my perspective and allowed me to create positive impact, embrace entrepreneurial thinking, and innovate for a better future. For the last three years, I have had the privilege of working at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Social Impact | Smith School of Business. During this time, I helped launch the Advanced Leadership for Social Impact Fellowship—a program that bridges theory and application to drive meaningful social change. I contributed to the design and development of a new Impact Leadership Certificate program and an integrated approach to academic and experiential learning. I was involved in running social innovation hackathons that showcased numerous purpose-driven enterprises. And was a part of creating and delivering numerous student and community events sponsored by the Centre. These experiences have been transformative, giving me deep insights into social impact, instructional design, program development, and leadership—all of which have shaped my journey and personal growth. I’m profoundly grateful to the incredible people at the Centre in particular who have inspired, supported, and guided me throughout this chapter - Elspeth J. Murray, JP Shearer, Christina Sager, Simon VanAsseldonk, Marina Darling, Michael Carter, Deborah Leach, Jean-Baptiste Litrico, Angie Recoskie. I am now embarking on a new path of learning and growth and am excited to be taking on the role of Head of Operations at Lightbody Marketing. Storytelling is a powerful force that will shape the future of work, connecting people, ideas, and innovations like never before. I’m excited to be a part of a dynamic and forward-thinking company that’s redefining #digitalmarketing through compelling storytelling, cutting-edge technology, and a people-first culture. To do Positioning right, it must be considered a company-wide initiative. Sponsored (and funded) by the CEO, run by the CMO. Positioning not only fuels marketing investments, but strong positioning accelerates revenue - improves win/loss, increases ARR, reduces "no decisions" - as well as, builds category leadership and valuation - and help set product priorities for the product teams - and is a rallying cry for motivating employees. Positioning is not a marketing exercise.
