School districts in Tompkins County, NY, are serving students scratch-made meals made with local ingredients thanks to the School Food Reboot, a partnership program between the Chef Ann Foundation, the Park Foundation, and six Tompkins County school districts. The Reboot has helped the districts increase their scratch cooking from 53% to 67%. It has also allowed districts to expand their use of local ingredients by adding salad bars in cafeterias. Newfield Schools Superintendent Eric Hatrz participating district, said, "The program funded the salad bars, which we didn't really have, It was awesome when those came in because it introduced our kids right away to some new foods and some really healthy foods."
