🌍CAN YOUR NGO SURVIVE IN 2025?🌱 As we dive into 2025, NGOs are navigating an evolving landscape that requires innovative approaches to strategy, fundraising, and internal processes. At The Workroom, we’ve gathered insights from last year’s events, conferences, and projects to help NGOs achieve greater impact in the year ahead. Here are 5 Strategic Hacks to get your NGO started on the right foot: 1️⃣ Make DEI Integral to Your Strategy Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) must be a core component of every NGO’s strategic process. Examine your internal strategy workflows — from who facilitates sessions to who makes final decisions — and ensure diverse voices are represented in meaningful ways. 2️⃣ Visualise for Impact Leverage AI-powered tools to transform complex reports and data into engaging visual content. Whether it's dashboards to track project progress or infographics to tell your success stories, visualisation tools like Kapwing and Napkin AI make data more accessible and impactful for donors, partners, and communities. 3️⃣ Strengthen Relationships with Funders Funding isn’t just about proposals; it’s about relationships. Institutional funders are more likely to support organisations they know and trust. Invest time in cultivating authentic connections and showcasing your unique value. 4️⃣ Balance Generalists and Specialists in Your Team The right mix of generalists and specialists is key to a resilient NGO. Generalists bring adaptability and versatility, while specialists provide deep expertise. Strive for a dynamic balance that ensures both agility and depth in your operations. 5️⃣ Avoid Decision Paralysis in Strategy Development Many NGOs fall into the trap of trying to accommodate every opinion during strategy development, leading to decision paralysis. To avoid this, clearly outline decision-making frameworks at the outset, manage stakeholder expectations, and focus on what will create the most impact. 💡 Pro Tip: Strategy isn’t about creating a perfect document. It’s about making thoughtful decisions that will guide your NGO’s actions toward its mission. The Workroom can help you structure your strategy process, ensuring it’s inclusive, effective, and impactful. 🔗 Let’s talk strategy: www.theworkroom.biz #NGOStrategy #ImpactfulLeadership #NonprofitTips #FundraisingHacks #DataVisualisation #TheWorkroom #SocialImpact

Exponent Philanthropy conference covered a lot of ground in 3.5 days. Elisha Smith Arrillaga, Ph.D. of Center for Effective Philanthropy inspired us in her opening keynote about extraordinary giving in extraordinary times. It brought me back to Philanthropy Together's We Give Summit where we explored the many ways to GIVE: time, talent, treasure, testimony, ties. How are you answering the call to support our communities? I met Paul D. Daugherty, Rahsaan Harris, PhD, Kyra D. H. who helped steward conversations and welcome newcomers. These are field catalysts who are connecting dots and helping drive philanthropic strategy forward. Brian Schultz of Candid shared knowledge about the power of a single repository for demographic data and other data needs for strategic grantmaking investments and collaboration building. Susan Wagoner and Rachel DeMatteo, CPA of Your Part-Time Controller, LLC laid down some finance basics to facilitate communication between staff and board. Planfulness is attentiveness. Attentiveness is showing care 😎 Katherine Liles of Blackbaud and the stellar advisement of Full Circle Impact Solutions brought you knowledge sharing about how Trust-Based Philanthropy Project ideals could apply to another set of #stakeholders in our #philanthropy / #nonprofit ecosystem: Technology Partners. #ai is coming at us fast ... #digital transformation was an emergent focus in 2020 when the #pandemic illustrated the painful outcomes of delay (data not in the cloud, distributed knowledge, silos, zoom licenses). We face a new set of challenges ... with lean staff and limited knowledge. Don't delay on upskilling! Learn how to collaborate effectively. Learn how to build a shared language. Lean into #trust.
