On International Women's Day, we recognise that the recruitment industry still has a long way to go when it comes to true gender equality - both internally within organisations and in its support for the industries it serves. The stereotypes of toxic masculine cultures are thankfully far from reality these days, but it goes without saying that we could all be doing more: supporting women by providing a level playing field and equal opportunities, providing more flexible working opportunities, educating and inspiring the next generation of female leaders and working with our partners to do the same. When we set up Impala five years ago, as two men from a traditional agency background, we were acutely aware of this. We consciously set out to create an agency culture that not only valued women and gave them the same opportunities but went out of its way to do better for them. Our first employee, Sade Turner-Moise (recognised this month as a UK delegate for the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) this year, has been a driving force behind our gender equality efforts. In 2022, Sade launched the "Women Talk Tech" podcast series—a platform dedicated to highlighting women's achievements, challenges, and perspectives in technology. Women continue to be underrepresented in tech roles, facing barriers and biases that can hinder their advancement and success. By creating a space for women to share their journeys and expertise, we aim to inspire, empower, and support women in tech and encourage more women to pursue careers in the field. We'd like to thank all of our guests to date for their contribution - it’s only with them that we are able to continue to create these important conversations. For a more equal industry, we have to look to the next generation of talent coming through the ranks and ensure that women are being given the right opportunities from the very start. That’s why we’re working with organisations dedicated to the future role of females within tech to help create a level playing field. We partnered with Coding Black Females, who are growing and inspiring a community of black female developers, with over 5,000 members in the UK as well as INCO Academy which is inspiring the next generation of tech talent in the UK, Germany and Ireland to provide workshops as well as 1:1 coaching sessions to upskill, educate and inspire - ultimately helping them get their foot on the employment ladder. We know we still have a way to go but it’s through these efforts that we hope to contribute towards an industry that looks very different in the next five years. Here’s to all of the amazing women who have made Impala what it is today. #iwd2024 #iwd2024womenleadingtheway #impalasearch #womentalktech #inspireinclusion

I recently attended the Women in Tech event in Manchester, which focused a lot on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I). The event emphasised celebrating diverse perspectives, fostering sponsorship for women in tech, promoting a family culture through flexibility, and empowering women through mentorship, coaching, and sponsorship. It underscored the importance of involving everyone in the pursuit of true equality and the undeniable link between diversity and innovation in our industry. But there's more to the story. Today, we're thrilled to announce our remarkable gender equality achievements at Softonic. Our recent company audit reveals a near-zero gender pay gap, with women enjoying a 1% advantage in total annual compensation. This is something I am particularly proud of taking into account that the unadjusted pay gap across Europe this year was a staggering 19%, according to recent figures and the 50inTech report. Furthermore, our workforce includes 37% talented women, surpassing industry averages - McKinsey reports an average of 22% in Europe. By setting this example, Softonic is paving the way for others to follow, not just in achieving gender equality, but in realising the true potential of diversity as a driver of innovation in the tech world. We still have a long way to go to but we are marching in the right direction. I would like to thank the team, especially Debora Muñoz, Javier Rivero Fernández, and Roxana Suciu from HR who put DE&I at the core of what we do, and who made these results possible. Onwards and upwards! Softonic #GenderEquality #DiversityInTech #Innovation #WomenInTech

On this Int’l Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible progress women have made in shattering glass ceilings and breaking barriers. Still, we must acknowledge that gender equality remains a work in progress. Women continue to face challenges, such as unequal pay and limited opportunities for promotion, particularly in male-dominated industries. Here are some ways to thrive: 1️⃣ Know your value: Recognize your worth and the specialized perspectives and skills you bring to the table. Embrace your strengths and celebrate your achievements. Remind yourself that you deserve to be in the rooms where decisions are made and that your contributions are invaluable. 2️⃣ Avoid imposter complex: Imposter syndrome can sometimes creep in, making you doubt your abilities and accomplishments. Remember that you've earned your place through hard work and talent. Surround yourself with a supportive network that reminds you of your capabilities and encourages you to embrace your achievements. 3️⃣ Build your network: Surround yourself with supportive mentors, both male and female, who can guide you and provide valuable insights. Seek out opportunities to connect with professionals in your industry and join organizations that champion gender equality. 4️⃣ Be confident & assertive: Believe in your abilities and don't be afraid to speak up. Share your ideas, contribute to discussions, and showcase your expertise. Your voice matters, and your experience can bring immense value to any organization. 5️⃣ Continue learning & developing: Stay ahead of the curve by investing in your professional growth. Seek out training, workshops, and certifications to enhance your skills and knowledge. Embrace lifelong learning as a way to stay competitive and demonstrate your commitment to excellence. 6️⃣ Advocate for yourself: Don't wait for recognition or opportunities to come to you. Be proactive in seeking out promotions, raises, and challenging assignments. Highlight your achievements, showcase your accomplishments, and don't be afraid to negotiate for what you deserve. 7️⃣ Don't hesitate to move on: If you find yourself in an environment where your value is not recognized, your contributions are overlooked, or opportunities for growth are limited, remember that you have the power to make a change. Explore other opportunities that align with your goals and values. Trust in your abilities and have the courage to pursue a path where you can thrive and be appreciated. 8️⃣ Support other women: Lift each other up and create a supportive community. Collaborate, mentor, and sponsor other women. By working together, we can amplify our collective voices and drive positive change. Let's celebrate the progress we've made while recognizing the work that still lies ahead. Together, we can foster a more equitable work climate for all. #internationalwomensday2024 #ChooseToChallenge #WomenInBusiness #GenderEquality

Celebrating Women in the Corporate and Tech Sectors on International Women's Day International Women's Day shines a light on women's achievements in traditionally male-dominated sectors like the corporate world and technology. It's a day to celebrate progress and the ongoing journey toward gender equality. Women now hold 29% of senior management roles globally, the highest number ever. This presence in leadership positions has been linked to a 33% increase in the likelihood of companies seeing above-average profits. In the tech sector, women constitute 25% of the workforce, with a growing number leading tech startups. Their impact ranges from driving innovation to creating more inclusive products. Women's leadership styles, often marked by empathy and collaboration, contribute to more equitable workplaces. They challenge stereotypes, mentor the next generation, and advocate for sustainability and social responsibility. However, challenges remain, including the gender pay gap, underrepresentation in executive roles, and barriers in tech. International Women's Day reminds us of the work still needed to achieve gender equality. On this day, let's pledge to support gender diversity and inclusivity. Encouraging women in leadership, inspiring girls in STEM, and advocating for equal policies are steps toward a more equitable world. The journey towards gender equality in business and tech offers hope and inspiration. Let's celebrate women's achievements and renew our commitment to a more inclusive future. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInLeadership #WomenInTech #GenderEquality #Empowerment

As we celebrate International Women's Day today, it's essential to reflect on the significance of this occasion, both in our personal lives and the industries we serve. International Women's Day goes beyond acknowledgment of women's achievements; it serves as a global cry for gender equality. In our line of work, the imperative for equality resonates more strongly than ever. In engineering and technology, the gender gap remains a stark reality. Despite progress, women are still significantly underrepresented in these fields. According to recent statistics from HESA and the UK Government census data on occupations, women make up 21% of students enrolling in Engineering and Technology courses in the UK. This underrepresentation extends to the workforce, where women constitute just 26% of the overall STEM workforce. One of the most glaring issues that persist is the gender pay gap. It's disheartening to note that, on average, women in engineering and technology fields earn 20% less than their male counterparts. This disparity isn't just unfair; it's a barrier to progress. It undermines the value of women's contributions and perpetuates systemic inequalities. However, the hurdles faced by women in engineering and technology extend beyond pay differentials. They grapple with implicit biases, limited representation in leadership roles, and workplace cultures that often favour male perspectives. These barriers not only impede women's career advancement but also stifle innovation and creativity. Creating a more inclusive industry demands deliberate action. We must invest in initiatives that inspire and support girls and young women to pursue STEM education. Mentorship programs, networking opportunities, and leadership development initiatives for women in the workforce are essential steps toward bridging the gender gap. Addressing ingrained biases and stereotypes in our workplaces is imperative. Cultivating cultures of respect, openness, and equality is essential to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for women to thrive in engineering and technology fields. Achieving gender equality is a collective responsibility. Men must play an active role in challenging outdated norms and advocating for inclusivity. By serving as allies and champions of gender equality, we can create a more equitable future for all. On this International Women's Day, let's recommit ourselves to the cause of gender equality in engineering and technology. Let's leverage the power of diversity to drive innovation and shape a brighter future. Together, let's build a world where every woman is not only welcomed but celebrated in the engineering and technology sectors. #internationalwomensday #equality #womeninengineering #womenintechnology #digitalmarketing

🎉 Celebrating Women's History Month: Empowerment Through Inclusion 🎉 As we embrace Women's History Month 2024, it's a time for reflection, celebration, and proactive engagement. My journey, enriched by life coaching, art, and mindfulness, highlights the value of diverse voices and perspectives in every area of life. This month, I'm eager to spotlight the strides toward gender equality in the tech industry, a transformation I've advocated through initiatives like Make Tech Purple at Bayone 💜. The tech sector, traditionally seen as male-dominated, is evolving. Initiatives like #MakeTechPurple are pivotal movements toward a more inclusive and balanced industry where women's contributions drive technological progress and innovation. #Empowerment in tech aligns with core principles I advocate for: leadership, positive communication, and strategic thinking. These principles are foundational to building a more equitable society. Women's History Month reminds us of the journey women have undertaken, the obstacles navigated, and the barriers dismantled. I've consistently emphasized the importance of fostering environments where everyone can thrive. This month, let's recommit to this ideal. Let's celebrate the accomplishments of women across all fields. Let's elevate the stories of women who are pioneering, challenging stereotypes, and setting new standards. The push for gender equality in tech continues, and we all have a role to play. Your actions and decisions can contribute to a more inclusive and balanced industry. This Women's History Month, let's vow to enrich tech with the diverse contributions of all involved. As we honor the past and the pioneering women who have paved the way, let's also look forward. A future where gender equality in tech and other fields is not just an aspiration but a reality. Together, we can create a world where everyone, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to innovate, lead, and inspire. Here's to a transformative #WomensHistoryMonth2024, where we not only commemorate women's achievements but also pledge to create a more #inclusive and equitable world for all.

It would take 283 years for the proportion of women in technology to grow equal to the 48% of women in the wider workforce, at the current rate of change* As we come to the end of IWD month, we wanted to highlight the importance of celebrating and recognising women not just for the one day a year. Bev White, CEO of Nash Squared parent company to Harvey Nash shares why she's optimistic for gender equality even with the current slow progress for women in tech. The article which first appeared in Computing explores reasons to be optimistic, how we can create channels for diverse voices, why we're losing women from the pipeline and how we can change the dynamic to tackle these low numbers. Today, I celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of women around the world, particularly in the field of Software as a Service (SaaS). This is a day to honor the progress made and to acknowledge the work that still lies ahead in achieving gender equality. This one sits differently for me this year as I can truly celebrate the "international" of this day as I am lucky enough to lead an amazing team of women globally! In our industry, women continue to break barriers, shatter glass ceilings, and pave the way for future generations. From coding wizards to visionary leaders, women in SaaS bring unique perspectives, innovative ideas, and unwavering determination to the table. Their impact is profound, driving growth, innovation, and positive change within our organizations and communities. But let us not forget the invaluable support and allyship of the men who stand alongside us. They champion our voices, advocate for equal opportunities, and work tirelessly to create inclusive environments where all individuals can thrive. Their partnership is essential in our collective journey towards gender equality. As we celebrate today, let's also reflect on how we can uplift and support other women in their careers. Whether they are just starting out, seeking growth opportunities, or looking to make a change, there are countless ways we can offer guidance, mentorship, and solidarity: 💡 Mentorship: Reach out to women who are early in their careers and offer guidance, support, and advice based on your own experiences. 💡 Networking: Create opportunities for women to connect with industry peers, mentors, and role models who can provide valuable insights and opportunities for collaboration. 💡 Advocacy: Speak up for gender diversity and inclusion in the workplace, advocating for policies and practices that promote equal opportunities for all. 💡 Skill-building: Encourage women to pursue professional development opportunities, whether it's through training programs, workshops, or conferences. 💡 Amplification: Amplify the voices of women in meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes, ensuring their ideas and contributions are recognized and valued. Together, let's continue to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in SaaS, creating a future where every individual, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. Happy International Women's Day! #internationalwomensday2024
