This notice is important for US importers of red snapper. However, it does not apply to US imports of frozen fillets of Northern red snapper (which are imported under an HTS code that is missing from NOAA's SIMP list and also from CBP's announcement): 0304895091 for fish fillets, frozen, not elsewhere specified or indicated. The two HTS codes called out by NOAA/NMFS for SIMP and CBP exclude one of the main product forms that US importers use to import Northern red snapper into the US - frozen fillets!
