Key enhancements in SIRE 2.0 - Risk-based, tailored inspection questionnaires for each vessel. - Digital tools for data collection and validation, including media support. - Greater focus on human factors and crew performance. - Inspector proficiency with improved training and performance monitoring. - Contextual and scenario-based questions, adding depth to inspections. - Stronger emphasis on real-time operational assessments and environmental compliance. SIRE 2.0 aims to provide a more comprehensive, accurate, and relevant picture of a vessel’s operational safety, moving beyond a simple checklist to a more dynamic and insightful assessment tool for safer and more environmentally responsible shipping.
OCIMF is pleased to share that SIRE 2.0 is now LIVE! The transition to OCIMF’s digitalised tanker inspection programme marks a new era of higher safety standards and reflects the shared commitment across industry to enhancing the quality and consistency of tanker operations worldwide. From this point forward, industry will benefit from more in-depth reporting and comprehensive assessments of the quality of a vessel and its crew on an ongoing basis. OCIMF would like to thank the Executive Committee for their support as well as recognise the hard work and commitment of the Vessel Inspection Programme (VIP) project team, the membership, specifically the VIP Steering Group and Working Group members past and present, the Secretariat, our industry partners, in particular, INTERTANKO, as well as the inspectors, vessel operators, crew and strategic suppliers who have helped us reach this significant milestone. RightShip's recent analysis of dry bulk vessel performance, https://bit.ly/47hb4jz, has revealed critical trends and challenges that impact the entire maritime ecosystem. A key finding: “Data has shown that maintaining high standards, coupled with appropriate inspection frequency and subsequent improvement actions by owners and managers, effectively reduces detentions and incidents.” Knowing the important role knowledgeable seafarers play, OTG has developed inspection bundles designed to underpin inspection excellence and make sure crews are well prepared in the key areas that inspections focus on. Helping companies reach and maintain high standards of safety and compliance is the goal of OTG's data-backed training solutions, https://bit.ly/47imCmw. #InspectionExcellence #MaritimeData #RightShip #DryBulkShipping #MaritimeTraining #OceanTechnologiesGroup #FleetPerformance #OperationalExcellence #RiskMitigation

While this will be a revolutionary change, going from over 400 questions to 100, from multiple yes/no questions to an interview form, and intrinsically safe tablet based as opposed to paper, this "break from the past" will lead to exceptional results. It will delve into the processes and human elements, and will make the tanker industry safer. As in any radical change, there will be a learning curve, but the team at OCIMF has burrowed deep into the process, front end and back end, and I look forward to the transition.

🚢 👷♀️👷♂️ How familiar are you and your crew with the SIRE 2.0 program? The OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum)’s SIRE 2.0 program is a significant evolution from the original Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE), incorporating a sophisticated, risk-based approach to vessel inspections. Launched earlier this week, SIRE 2.0 introduces a digital and dynamic inspection process aimed at improving safety, environmental standards, and overall quality across the maritime industry. 🌊 With these changes, it’s crucial for both ship and shore staff to understand the new inspection requirements and how they differ from the previous VIQ7 format. SIRE 2.0 not only focuses on the vessel’s equipment and processes but also incorporates human factors, making it a comprehensive upgrade. 🎯 Are you ready for what’s ahead? Maersk Training offers specialized solutions to bridge the knowledge gap through practical application and to ensure your team is well-equipped to handle SIRE 2.0 inspections with confidence. 📋 Let’s work together to make your next inspection a demonstration of excellence. 🌟 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gpZjn9h9 or contact us at Maersk Training. #MaritimeSafety #Tankers #VettingInspection #ShipInspection

Preparation is the key here. All seafarers and even vessel managers wanting to be competitive and professional with these inspections must go through the trainings for SIRE 2.0 and also the questionnaire itself.

🚢 OCIMF Launches SIRE 2.0: A Digital Leap for Tanker Inspections 🚢 On September 2, 2024, the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) introduced SIRE 2.0, revolutionizing tanker inspections with a focus on digitalisation. This marks a major transformation, leveraging technology to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in the maritime industry. 🔹 Fully Digital System: Paper-based inspections are now replaced by tablet-based real-time assessments. Inspectors capture data and high-quality photographic evidence directly into the system, offering deeper insights into a vessel’s condition. 🔹 Tailored Inspections: SIRE 2.0 generates customized questionnaires for each vessel, dynamically built around the vessel's risk profile, type, and history, ensuring more relevant inspections. 🔹 Instant Feedback: Real-time data sync ensures up-to-date inspection reports—some exceeding 70 pages—enabling proactive safety measures for operators. OCIMF emphasizes the need for preparation, providing training to ensure smooth integration of this digital process for both onshore and onboard teams. The future of tanker safety is here—more efficient, more transparent, and more robust. 🌊 Discover more on how we can assist with your marine survey needs at Lerus Canada's Marine Surveys and Audits page! #Maritime #TankerInspections #DigitalTransformation #SafetyFirst #OCIMF #Innovation #MarineSurveys #Audits #SafetyFirst #LerusCanada

🚢 Tanker Owners and Operators: Time to Prepare for SIRE 2.0! 🚢 I recently had the opportunity to speak with TradeWinds about the imminent changes in the oil industry's Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE). The introduction of SIRE 2.0 is set to bring a comprehensive overhaul, focusing heavily on crew readiness and the human element of maritime operations. While some tanker operators have been diligently preparing, there is a concerning level of overconfidence among a subset of smaller and medium-sized, but also some of the leading operators. The new regime's rigorous requirements and extensive question library will undoubtedly increase the number of inspection findings, posing significant commercial risks if not managed properly. At Kaiko Systems, we’ve been working closely with the industry and SIRE Inslectors to ensure seafarers are equipped with the necessary tools and training to navigate these changes successfully. Our digital self-assessment program, designed around the SIRE 2.0 question library, is already helping hundreds of vessels stay ahead of the curve. For those in the industry, I urge you to take immediate action: 1. **Review and enhance your training programs.** 2. **Leverage digital tools to simplify and standardize inspections.** 3. **Engage proactively with charterers to manage expectations and mitigate risks.** Read more about the upcoming changes and how to prepare in the full article by TradeWinds: https://lnkd.in/dWP8tgCP Together, let’s ensure crews are not just prepared, but confident and capable of meeting the new SIRE 2.0 standards. 🌊 #MaritimeSafety #Sire2 #TankerIndustry #KaikoSystems #MaritimeInnovation #CrewTraining #DigitalTransformation Kaiko Systems OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) INTERTANKO
