How important is it to protect your accounts with multi-factor authentication (MFA)? Ask Ticketmaster, Live Nation and Snowflake. 😵💫https://lnkd.in/e_ezx452 😵 The attacker (ShinyHunters) is targeting environments that don't have multi-factor authentication (MFA) because they're easier to hack. If you have a Ticketmaster account: 👀Keep an extra sharp watch for malicious emails and text messages (#phishing #vishing). 🔎Monitor payment accounts and credit cards for fraudulent charges 🔑Change your password (especially if you recycle passwords. If your password was stolen, criminals will use that stolen password to try to log into all your other accounts. If you use the same password for multiple accounts, that could mean BIG trouble for you.) 🌟Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your accounts with this super easy cheat sheet with links and a step-by-step guide to help you: https://lnkd.in/gE9kQpWT ⚡Like and share this post to help your friends and colleagues protect their accounts too! #securityawareness #databreach #informationsecurity #mfa #becybersmart #staysafeonline #sharingiscaring

I was with Joe Wells at a Presentation a couple of months back & one of the most interesting facts we learned was that the #lockbit hacker group was disrupted but not dismantled. The National Crime Agency (NCA) gave a presentation on how they "shut them forum down" & were able to take a peek into their world. The reality is these extortion groups are much more sophisticated and adaptable to the world, they rebuild very quickly & have access to better levels of technology. Ekaterina - much more work needs to be done to understand how these attackers target organisations, build a knowledge base of the tools, methods, vulnerabilities and ensure organisations have the business continuity plans in place to get back to business (post-breach). Interesting read! #cyberbreach #informationsecurity #nqbrecruit

🔒 **Ransomware Attack as a Tactic to Attract Hackers?** 🔒 BreachForum, one of the most popular underground forums for hackers, has recently relaunched, weeks after it was seized by the FBI. ShinyHunters, a key administrator who evaded the FBI, reached out to Ticketmaster in an extortion attempt prior to offering the database for sale. When the company did not respond, ShinyHunters published a 1.3TB database of compromised customer data on the newly-reopened BreachForum. The timing and nature of the leak suggest it might be designed to generate buzz and attract malicious actors to the newly reopened forum. 🤝 Stay safe, stay informed. #cybernews

Who's Protecting Our Information? Recently, the ShinyHunters hacking group claimed responsibility for an alleged hack of Ticketmaster and Live Nation, now selling the data of 560 million customers for US$500,000. This includes sensitive information like hashed credit card numbers, expiration dates, customer names, addresses, and emails. But here's the troubling part: we’re learning about this breach from the hackers themselves, not from Ticketmaster or Live Nation. Why is that? As customers, we've entrusted these companies with our private data, expecting robust protection and transparency. Yet, in the wake of this breach, their silence is deafening. It seems their priority is protecting their business image rather than addressing the security lapse that has put millions at risk. ...Hmmm this sounds a lot like my last post about London Drugs! Who are the true victims here? It's us, the customers, left vulnerable and uninformed. So, what can we do? Demand Transparency: Companies must be held accountable to promptly inform customers about breaches. Advocate for Stronger Regulations: Push for stricter data protection laws that ensure immediate disclosure and robust security measures. Protect Our Data: Stay vigilant about the information we share and take steps to safeguard our personal data. We deserve better. It's time for companies to prioritize our security over their image. https://lnkd.in/gMW8xftq #DataBreach #CyberSecurity #CustomerRights #TransparencyMatters

The recent Ticketmaster data breach is a stark reminder of the critical importance of robust data privacy laws. Ticketmaster's parent company, Live Nation, is investigating after hackers, the ShinyHunters, claimed to have stolen the personal information of 560 million customers, including names, addresses, phone numbers, order details, and credit card information. This incident underscores the necessity for stringent privacy regulations to protect consumer data. Without these laws, companies may not prioritize the safeguards needed to prevent such breaches. For consumers, this breach highlights the vulnerability of personal information and the importance of trusting companies to protect their data. #Ticketmaster #ConsumerTrust #PrivacyRegulations #Cybersecurity
