“In 2025, the convergence of significant milestones, including the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Beijing+30), the 10-year milestone for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Civil society plays a highly influential role in holding governments accountable and in ensuring that women and girls are centered in the policy making process. This was evident in the Fourth World Conference on Women, and the resulting Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (PfA) which were profoundly shaped by women's civil society and feminist movements.” As part of my perspective, IYD 2024 builds on the momentum from the Beijing+30 meeting, carrying forward the impetus established by the Beijing Declaration. In the interest of climate action- fostering the growth of female environmental leaders and providing a forum for the funding and constructive development of their inventions and ideas.

“The foremost inquiry a just institution should make is this - are our systems and structures conducive to inclusivity and are women supported in making unconventional choices that may not be socially sanctioned? The Constitution guarantees the choice to opt for the conventional and the unconventional alike. Before we regard any choice as unconventional, wait for the moment to pass. Tomorrow a new future unfolds in re-imagining what it is to be a woman,” Read more: t.ly/bSsC7

International IDEA launches a new report that emphasises the need to integrate #environmentalprotection and #inclusivity in natural resource management. This report highlights that alternative development models are essential to challenge the dominant extractivist paradigm amid the #climatecrisis. The report is part of the unique series: the Women Constitution Makers’ Dialogue, the only platform for women constitution makers and peacebuilders to exchange their experiences and support inclusive and gender-sensitive constitution-building and peace processes. 🔑 Key findings 🔹 Inclusive frameworks that integrate conflict resolution, environmental protection, and inclusion of women must be developed and utilized in peace processes and subsequent constitution-making processes. 🔹 Adopting a contextual and differentiated approach to natural resource management is essential. 🔹 Environmental considerations should be integrated into broader economic, policy and legal frameworks. We need something like this for people with disabilities and neurodivergent. “This paper describes how to achieve feminist climate justice through four interlinked dimensions (recognition, redistribution, representation, and reparation) and the principles of interdependence and intersectionality. It provides practical guidance on what countries need to do to transition to low-emission economies that are resilient to a changing climate, while recognizing the leadership of women, girls, and gender-diverse people in driving the change that is so urgently needed. “

Founder of Pro(to)topia: Imagineering a green caring society. Independent environmentalist. Adjunct professor at PSIA. Former Executive Director at Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP)
2 years ago, after leading the Institute of European Environmental Policy (IEEP) through Brexit&COVID and being diagnosed with an aggressive&rare tumour, I fell literally on my knees. At that time, my doctor told me: "Is your plan to work yourself to death?" Of course, as I departed from my job, I blamed myself for being weak and having failed to deliver the impossible. To make sense of this very difficult experience, I tried to find answers: Was I the only one in this situation or was there something structurally wrong with the way women leaders were operating and/or treated in the CSO sector? I feel immensely grateful for the 150 women that shared their stories of pain, resolve, resilience and hope. My dream is that through this study, and all the great intiatives that will flow from it, CSO women leaders in Europe and elsewhere, that are out there fighting for the greater good, feel less lonely, more empowered to say no and become as caring to themselves as they are to others and to society&nature. For this transfromation to take place, it is high time that funders, governments and society at large fullfil their duties of care towards those who try to repair the broken fabric of our societies. This means building a more caring economy, addressing the permanent financial insecurity in the CSO&care sector as well as questioning societal norms that underpin harmful leadership cultures. Better societies will not emerge from sacrifice, guilt, exhaustion and ill-health. They will bloom when care of oneself, of others and nature is put at the very center of all policies&practice. @Forum for Caring Societies Hot or Cool Institute Global Alliance for Care / Alianza Global por los Cuidados With very special thanks to my coauthors Angela Philp Joanna Maycock Eloïse Bodin as well as to our funders FEPS Europe, Green European Foundation Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the Heinrich Boell Foundation.

On the IWD, March 8, Cristina Carreres, co-director of SOLARCA, together with 3 other managers (Miriam Guasch, Gloria Vallcorba and Laia Gomà-Camps) took part in a roundtable discussion at a local newspaper Diari de Tarragona to share their thoughts on equality. The debate, entitled Actions to develop the talent in the company discussed the challenges facing the development of female talent in organisations today, the difficulty in accessing management positions such as the ones they occupy, where they are still the exception, but also the great progress that have been made since their beginnings, such as “the concept of equality”, which did not even exist before. “There were not even safety boots of my size in the industries”, our director explained as an anecdote. Obviously, things have changed and in recent decades we have seen positive progress in terms of equality. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dyqij9y5
