We recently automated a customer's manual bagging process for small clamps, which was labor-intensive and error-prone. To address space limitations, we chose a Universal Robots collaborative robot, and paired it with Apera AI's 4-D Vision System to handle these highly reflective parts, providing accurate identification. Clamps often stuck together, causing incorrect quantities and disrupting tracking. The Apera system effectively managed reflective surfaces, ensuring precise picks. With a Robotiq gripper as the end-effector, we mounted the entire system on a custom-designed TSLOTS by Bonnell Aluminum table. The result was a successful, efficient automated design for pick-and-place applications.
