🎃 Scary stat from our M&A practice at Workleap 🎃 Nearly 98% of companies on our radar in North America (100+ companies in high growth spaces) are male-led. We're all tired of hearing about the lack of gender diversity in tech, but sadly, we still have a long way to go in tech leadership. If I want to find women-led companies that can be amplified by joining the Workleap journey, I really need to think outside the box. Thankfully, the Quebec tech ecosystem has a growing network of fairy godmothers (Can you tell I am a Halloween geek? 🧚♀️ ). I am thinking of those leading funds such as Sophie Forest, Magaly Charbonneau, , Kristin Smith CPA, CFA, Saloua Benkhouya, B.Sc, MBA, Catherine Beauchemin, Mia Morisset, Sophie Gupta, Ziyi Shi, those bringing change in established tech companies Kahina Ouerdane, Nayla Chebli, CPA, CFA, Anne Thériault, those leading professional practices such as Sophie Lamonde, Caitlin Rose, and those challenging status quo such as Roxanne Leduc, and of course, those already leading tech companies such as Anna Chif, Florence Petit-Gagnon, Katrina Albert, and Roxanne Lessard, to name a few. If you're a woman leading a tech company, let's connect! I'm happy to share insights from our CDPQ funding journey and support however I can. Let's work together so I don't have to post this scary stats again and again in the coming years!

This is our moonshot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We’re reaching for the stars to enable 1000 women to start and lead tech companies over 5 years - work with us to build this moonshot a tech accelerator for women founders. We are actively looking for key partners! 🚀 The enthusiasm is there. The talent is there. The women are there. But the equity of opportunity is missing. 🌍The lack of financing opportunities isn’t just restricted to Ireland. Currently some 87 per cent of all VC funding in Europe is still raised by all-men teams. The proportion of funding raised by women-only teams has dropped from 3 per cent to 1 per cent since 2018. 📍We are keen to work collaboratively and complement already existing players in the Irish ecosystem. 🏆There are significant financial benefits to backing female-founded companies, noting research undertaken by former NatWest Group chief executive Alison Rose that revealed backing businesses founded by women could unlock billions in additional economic value. https://lnkd.in/eEZJTNZ9 Áine Kerr Dr Lollie Mancey Patricia Scanlon Maura McAdam Oonagh O'Shea Veronica Breene Kieran Towey Kieran O'Brien Jean Rea Jean O'Donnell Martina Naughton Jo N. 2025’ We’re Coming Through We Belong in the Room AND at the Table💯 Here’s a question: Why should the tech industry limit itself to the same voices, the same ideas, the same perspectives? At Including Us in Tech, we’re not here to ask for a seat at the table we’re here to build a table that has room for “EVERYONE”. 🤎Room for people of color to lead, create, and innovate. 🧡Room for new voices to challenge old ways of thinking. 💛Room for an industry that serves ALL communities, not just a select few. STOP THE PRESS! Yesterday, the TechRound SaaS Top 66 companies were announced, and not only did HeyFlow make the list, but we were ranked TWELTH! 🤯 "As a majority female-founded company, HeyFlow and its team has also faced the challenge of securing investment in a field where female entrepreneurs often encounter biases and funding barriers. HeyFlow operates in a space that necessitates challenging entrenched social norms and systemic beliefs, and attitudes that support the lack of inclusion for women. The firm advocates for changing workplace attitudes that have historically sidelined women’s health issues, which often contribute to high absenteeism, lower retention rates, and slower career progression for women." If you, or your company are looking to make your workplace more inclusive for women and want to take the lead as we create waves in the future of work, get in touch. I love it 💃 🚀 I think it's important to spotlight female role models to inspire more women in tech! In 2023, women held 26.7% of tech jobs, up from 19% in 2019. Yet only 14% of tech leaders are women, and representation is even lower for CTOs and engineering heads. #WomenInTech #DiversityInLeadership #FemaleFounders #TechLeadership

Reflecting on my first time at Elevate, the talks were actionable and the intimate spaces made it easier to chat 1:1. 🙌 Inspiring on-stage conversations: Fatima Zaidi’s advice on bootstrapping your way to success and building for your customers vs for investors. As helpful as VC money can be, it’s overemphasized.💡 Charlie F. pitching Tinybox (net-zero, off grid homes). We’re lucky to have you and Pooya Saberi in the MaRS Community! 🏠 Erika Ayers Badan’s quote: ‘Does your boss’s boss know what you do?’ Great session on navigating your career interviewed by the amazing Michele Romanow.🎙️ New connections with great perspectives: Jake Hirsch-Allen’s work in making the world a better place, from scouting and advising AI companies to supporting immigrant talent and more. 👏 Ziv Deutsch’s perspective on hiring for early-stage companies and supporting technical founders with growth and exits.💯 Michelle Muir, MA’s insights on securing grant funding through writing solid proposals focused on your reader.✍️ Meghan Gervais’s infectious energy and championing women in tech + founders. ❤️ Francis Bourgouin’s take on AI and how programming at Lighthouse Labs is supporting aspiring tech talent with future proofing their skills for the jobs of tomorrow. Existing relationships I got to strengthen: YJ Lin is a community whisperer! His work as a community advisor, particularly with Dell Technologies’s startup community is equal parts data-driven and relationship-driven. Excited to partner on events. 🚀 Fatima Khamitova is a brilliant and well-known leader in the AI venture building space. Enjoyed our random conversations; thanks for reminding me Nuit Blanche in Toronto isn’t worth the hype. 🤣 Niv Lobo Gajiwala is a hiring superstar in case you’re looking for hiring support! 💼 Eric Rafat’s been a huge supporter for the Toronto tech community with FoundersBeta. 🚀 I strongly agree that a great product starts with a great team. Recently, I attended techUK’s "𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲-𝗨𝗽𝘀" event in London, where experts from across the industry shared insights on the role of talent in scaling tech companies. Here’s what stood out: 👥 A key takeaway for me was the importance of a strategic people plan that identifies critical skills at each scaling milestone and promotes career growth through clear pathways, mentoring, and skill-building. This refers to the challenges startups and scale-ups face when hiring the right tech talent. We’ve covered some practical strategies small businesses can adopt to handle hiring challenges, such as building an attractive employer brand and offering growth opportunities – all aimed at achieving sustainable growth despite the vast number of competitors. 💡At PLANEKS, we’re all about attracting skilled, passionate professionals who align with our core values; I’m proud of the diverse and profound team we’ve built. This event reminded me of the importance of focusing on our recruitment process to find top-tier talent and ensure they’re the right fit for PLANEKS. It also boosts my focus on supporting in-house expertise, creating an environment for progress, and inspiring teams to deliver outstanding client results. 🔍 Hearing industry leaders discuss talent challenges in tech made me reflect on the outstanding journey each team member at PLANEKS has taken. Our team is a diverse mix of enthusiasts united by a common goal. Events like these are a great reminder of how crucial it is to invest in people – to build not just a company but a community of innovators who are genuinely driven to make an impact.
