❌ Myth: Only employees in high-stress jobs are at risk of psychosocial hazards. ✅ Reality: It's essential for employers to recognise that psychosocial hazards are not limited to high-stress occupations but can occur wherever the work environment fails to support employees’ psychological health and safety. This broader understanding helps in developing targeted strategies to mitigate risks across all job types. #GetInCheq with your workplace psychosocial hazard management obligations and book a demo today! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gi7TSini #PsychosocialHazards #PsychologicalSafety #EmployeeWellbeing #WHS #SafeMindsBetterWork

Two recent online events offer good introductions to managing psychosocial hazards at work, but our thinking needs to be stretched to address these hazards at the source. If we don't, the slow pace of change will unnecessarily harm workers. https://lnkd.in/gxjhc2q8 #OHS #WHS #psychosocialhazards #mentalhealthatwork #workhealthandsafety Carlo Caponecchia Martyn Campbell

Psychosocial Risk is on the regulators radar! Australian organisations (well some of them) are starting to dig a little deeper in this space – but there is resistance to changing how things are done, because people feel a little lost. The thing is – you need to find your way, and you need to do it quickly – the regulators are taking action. We have heard the excuses …. It won't happen to us we have a great reputation.. We care about our people, we will be OK It will be ages before this stuff hits the courts .. we have time.. They will let us off first rime round surely? Well..... I say no more, it is happening! Charges for breaching the Safety Act by continuing to ignore poor Psychological and Psychosocial workplace safety are starting to pile up. I will post as many cases as I can, so Directors understand that these amended obligations are live! And so very overdue! Can you safely say your organisation won't be next? When was the last time your organisation or Board revisited your pyschosocial risks? Do your staff actually do the job like you think? What is your attitude to adequate resourcing and the impact on your work force? Has your productivity reporting looked at the net productivity after considering the real cost of supporting your staff?

It is fantastic to see a growing focus on psychosocial safety for workers and an increase in available tools to help recognise and address the obligation for employers to provide, as far as practicable, a safe work environment. Gone are the days where it was sufficient to have broad organisational ideas of safety written on a website but never actioned, or a culture of ‘suck it up, it’s part of the job’. Safety in the workplace is critical, and should be prioritised equally for both the physical and psychological elements of the workplace. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t real or debilitating. Let’s keep raising the bar for safety, removing stigma and cultivating cultures not only in our workplaces, but across society of safety and support.
