#SafetyTipThursday 🥶 Winter Safety in the Workplace As the temperatures drop, it's crucial to ensure a safe work environment during the winter months. Here are some tips to keep your workplace safe and warm: ❄️ Maintain Heating Systems: Regularly inspect and maintain heating systems to ensure they are working efficiently and safely. Hire professionals for any repairs. ❄️ Avoid Overloading Electrical Circuits: Do not overload electrical circuits with heaters and other devices. Use power strips with surge protection and avoid using damaged cords. ❄️ Keep Staff Warm and Comfortable: Provide localised heating such as warm-up rooms, protection from wind and rain through shelters, and warm, waterproof clothing and PPE, especially for hands and feet. ❄️ Combat Common Winter Illnesses: Increase awareness of winter illnesses, ensure hand sanitiser is accessible, clean restrooms regularly, display awareness posters, and maintain a healthy environment by regulating temperatures. ❄️ Be Mindful of Reduced Visibility: Use artificial lighting and ensure staff wear compliant hi-vis clothing. Be aware of reduced daylight hours, fog, and rain, which can all decrease visibility and increase hazards. Stay safe and warm this winter season!
