Every company wants a CRM audit but not every company wants to give their CRM admin enough time to complete proper documentation or enough authority to enforce documentation processes on marketing, sales, and service teams. If your CRM admin is also your email marketing manager (and you have more than 50-100+ employees) you will eventually need an audit as that person does not have the time in the day to document things properly. Bonus points if they also run social, paid search, blog content, or other direct marketing implementation functions. If your CRM admin is a former (often junior) sales person who 'got given' the CRM as a responsibility (and you have more than 50-100+ employees) you can not expect the documentation and compliance processes of a 5-10 year experienced admin. If you have shut down your CRM admin when they ask to enforce data compliance on sales teams..... If any of the above three are even close to being true, you are less than 12 months away from saying 'we have no idea how things got set up, what they do, or how we can build the new stuff we want to build'. (This time range shrinks drastically when the CRM owner/admin eventually quits from burnout and takes their tribal knowledge with them) Be proactive about portal audits. Give your admin time back. Can someone tell me why.. the company seeking to fill a CRM ADMIN role requires the candidate to have an MBA? It's Sunday, an hour before my kiddo's baseball playoff game, and I am peeking around at what's in the job sphere. I come across a CRM admin job for a start up company. It's 100% marketed as the HEAD of CRM for the company. When the entire job description reads as the sole admin for their CRM tool. Not development, not business analysis, not product ownership. Admin. And this person needs an MBA. I am just going to leave this here. I am amazed daily at what these companies are looking for. Top that off what what they're willing to pay and insert an eye roll. This is probably not the most professional or positive post I could put out there but we need to start calling this out. You do not need an MBA to fulfill this role and you are losing an incredible candidate pool by requiring one.
