Goop delivers the experience Within the rapidly evolving and thriving $1.8 Trillion Welllness industry (Jan. '24 McKinsey study on top trends in Wellness) trending themes such as biohacking, lifespan optimization, and menopause normalization, all driven by science and data (how many wearables do you have?) have taken center stage. To serve this robust consumer demand, a plethora of new wellness summits and conferences draw eager crowds to experiences around the world, including an explosion in wellness travel and retreats which is set to more than double by 2027. With my own personal obsession in this space, and having attended a number of these conferences and retreats myself, and, as an Experientialist to the core, I have been surprised, struck actually, by the complete disconnect between the topic at hand - optimizing your health, longevity and wellbeing, and the actual summit/conference experience itself. Often these conferences take place in the windowless ballrooms of big hotel chains, with bad lighting and off-gassing, toxic carpeting, plastic cups galore, and very few healthy food options. The concept of creating an environment that immerses guests in the experience of wellness, not just passively learning by sitting in a lecture, is surprisingly, screamingly, absent.
