Shout Out to John at Principal for your contagious, positive attitude and making the process seamless and fun, with a smile. Four individuals today, who have no idea who I am, yet made a, in my head, not easy tasks, very seamless with empathy, understanding, laughter, and some fun tossed in there for good measure. In the early days, #CMAD used to mean something. Yes, there were brands (software and platforms) who used to use it for promoting their company, but the community managers used to come together and celebrate each other. Today, at least so far, the only mention of it has been from communities for community managers and community platforms that are for community managers. Nothing yet in the way of community managers celebrating each other. Except for Max Pete who is also celebrating a birthday today. Happy birthday, Max! Wouldn't it be nice if communities got back to where we were 15 years ago? Where it was more about the people and less about marketing and the metrics? 12 years ago, I was still celebrating for 24 hours with fellow community managers all around the globe by hosting a 24 hours livestream where we brought community managers together to discuss a certain topic each hour for 24 hours straight. It was the 3rd straight year (actually the first was only 12 hours, and planned in about 2 weeks). It continued for another year or two after I left My Community Manager when Sherrie Rohde and Jonathan Brewer took it over and did an amazing job with it. Today, I almost didn't even realize it was #CMAD until a few emails from community platforms came to my inbox. It's earlier in the month than I'm used to, just because it's held on the 4th Monday of January and January 2024 has 5 Mondays. For my fellow #communitymanagers, please reach out if you want to chat today, maybe jump on a livestream with me to share something about community building, or don't. It's your day, celebrate it how you wish. For me, that would be getting back to how it was, celebrating together.

New Microsoft #Teams can still call you, even though you are set to "do not disturb"!? 🤪 It seems that New Teams sets your status PER TENANT/ORG. You can be DnD on your home tenant, but not on a tenant you're a guest of. Result: Folks on your tenant can't call you, but those on the other tenant still can! You'll have the "blocked" icon on your avatar at home, but still be "green" on the other tenant. Loads of fun when you're in an important call and Teams rings again. 😁 For me, this is ... interesting. I get that It may even make sense to allow calls from one org, but not another - but there are enough times when you want NO calls or notifications at all. Or is this just me?
