Senior Market Analyst at Signify Research | Healthcare | Real-World Data | Precision Medicine | Digital Pathology | LIS & LIMS
Happy new year to my LinkedIn community! Interesting news to wake up to! Congratulations Aiforia Technologies. One of the questions I keep getting asked is how will academics in general approach AI for digital pathology? Self-development is something we saw historically within radiology AI, but as the market matured and comparisons emerged the market inevitably pivoted back to commercial solutions tried and tested across larger and more diverse sets of data. Pathology however, contains such a vast array of use cases for AI that it's unlikely vendors will be able to meet the entire spectrum of use cases any time soon... What do you think? #signifyresearch #digitalpathologyai #digitalpathology
Aiforia has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with the Mayo Clinic in the United States to globally commercialize an AI model that improves prediction of colorectal cancer recurrence. The AI model was developed in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic. The AI model identifies important histological features of colorectal cancer and provides a recurrence prediction estimate useful for colorectal cancer treatment decisions. 🧬🔬 Analyzing high-throughput in vitro genomic data is no walk in the park!. First, there's the issue of noise in response measurements making it tricky to develop accurate predictors on independent data. 🤖 Enter AI methods! We have tons of preclinical pharmacogenomic data at our disposal, but we need solutions that can not only generalize across different domains but also integrate various data modalities. 🏥 On the clinical side, there's a dire need for more clinical trial datasets to be readily available. These are the lifeblood of AI models, helping us train, fine-tune, and validate predictions. 🧠 AI-based predictors are fantastic at handling high-dimensional data and are highly scalable. However, the complexity of treatment decisions goes beyond what most AI models are currently trained for. AI is already playing an important role in Drug Discovery and is set to play an increasingly crucial role in the future of medicine. It's about finding completely new drug targets and about validating existing ones. For instance, AU-409 has shown a novel approach to treating hepatocellular carcinoma. AI-guided discoveries often revalidate known targets, providing fresh insights and potential breakthroughs. Combining AI with deep biological understanding is set to revolutionize cancer survival. Usong these innovations to address the most challenging, drug-resistant cancers, we have a highly ethical application of AI. The future is promising with AI, and this transformative journey is just beginning. #AI #Medicine #Innovation #DrugDiscovery #CancerResearch #Healthcare #FutureTech
