In the realm of genetics, a repressor stands as a protein tasked with binding to a distinct DNA sequence, often nestled within the regulatory segment of a gene. Its primary function lies in thwarting the expression of said gene. This function operates through a mechanism of negative regulation, wherein the repressor acts as a barrier, impeding the access of transcription factors to the DNA. Consequently, this obstruction halts the transcription process, preventing the conversion of the gene into mRNA and, consequently, hindering protein synthesis.

📈 I recently completed a project exploring the relationship between SEX 👨🏽🦱👩🏽 and GENE EXPRESSION🧬 in adipose tissue. Using LINEAR REGRESSION, I analyzed adipose tissue data, to explore the association between sex and gene expression. I focused on one specific gene- SALL1, and calculated key metrics like the P-value and Beta providing insights into the relationship between the variables.
