Health insurance issuers and self-insured plan sponsors, don’t forget to pay your Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) fees by July 31, 2024. These fees, reported annually on IRS Form 720, apply to plan years ending in 2023. Big misconception out there - When someone needs to decide between two insurance options most of the time they will focus on Premium and Coverage which is correct but a very important factor is also how the carrier responds to claims. I was sitting with a program manager that offers GL/PL coverage for healthcare facilities. He tells me, his program will not come in the cheapest BUT where they do shine is that they have a in house law firm that handles all their claims which ultimately will fight the case more aggressively than others which will ultimately help the clients bottom line as their loss runs will have less and lower payouts.
