Health insurance issuers and self-insured plan sponsors, don’t forget to pay your Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) fees by July 31, 2024. These fees, reported annually on IRS Form 720, apply to plan years ending in 2023. Key Points to assess your obligations: - PCORI fees are $3.22 per covered life for plan years ending after Oct. 1, 2023. - Determine which of your plans are subject to these fees. - Assess plan funding status to identify who is responsible for payment. - Choose a method to calculate average covered lives for self-insured plans. Make sure to review IRS resources for detailed guidance and ensure timely compliance! #PCORIFees #HealthInsurance #ComplianceReminder #EmployeeBenefits

Yesterday I was called on by MAHU (Minnesota Association of Health Underwriters) to testify against a bill that threatens the solvency of care systems and insurance carries in individual and group markets. I agree that costs are extremely high for both insurance and care, but we disagree that a single payer / public option is the way to achieve sustaining reform. A small clip of my testimony made the news on channel 5! #minnesota #insurance #employeebenefits

Myth or Fact? I can't get insurance if I have health problems. This is a myth! Whilst some insurers may decline an application on medical grounds, as a blanket statement, this is incorrect. Insurers take each application on a case-by-case basis, and whilst policy payments may be higher, it is still possible to get insured. If in doubt, speak to one of our Protection Advisers today. https://ow.ly/UFi650R97rj #InsuranceFacts Approved by Openwork Limited on 27/03/2024

Big misconception out there - When someone needs to decide between two insurance options most of the time they will focus on Premium and Coverage which is correct but a very important factor is also how the carrier responds to claims. I was sitting with a program manager that offers GL/PL coverage for healthcare facilities. He tells me, his program will not come in the cheapest BUT where they do shine is that they have a in house law firm that handles all their claims which ultimately will fight the case more aggressively than others which will ultimately help the clients bottom line as their loss runs will have less and lower payouts. It's not about the number up front, you need to think long term...... Are your loss runs pretty messy? Reach out for more info. #insurance #healthcareinsurance #nursinghome

Govt Directive: Public sector insurers advised to exit motor and health insurance to cut losses. 💼 Against expectations, the Union Budget did not announce any fresh capital infusion for the public insurers. 🔍 Performance Review in FY25: Their performance will be assessed to plan any further capital infusions. 💰 Capital Infusion History: Rs 17,500 crore injected in two phases (FY 2019-20 and FY 2020-21). 📉 Rationale: This move aims to reduce liability claims in motor insurance and high claim ratios in health insurance. 📈 Improving Performance: Significant loss reduction in FY24 for UIIC, NICL, and OICL. New India Assurance continues to perform well. #Insurance #InsuranceIndustry #HealthInsurance #MotorInsurance #Budget2024
