Annual reports, gratitude reports, and impact reports — some of my favorite types of projects. I enjoy taking the individual elements and figuring out how they'll work together as part of a bigger picture. This gratitude report was inspired by one photo provided by our partners at the Health Wagon. Our team took that inspiration, developed a concept, and then carried it out from cover to cover. This was one of my favorite projects from 2023. We're making some exciting shifts in the approach for this year's report, and I can't wait to see the results. We always appreciate the opportunity to partner with The Health Wagon, a nonprofit beacon of hope in Southwest Virginia. Each year as we start work on their Gratitude Report, we take a look back at the previous year’s report for ideas on how to make it even better. The 2022 Gratitude Report showcased heartwarming stories of lives touched by the nonprofit’s unwavering care and was one of the tools that helped the Health Wagon raise $132,189 from individuals that year! https://ow.ly/mYw550Qq2Vp #healthwagon #gratitudereport #annualreports

I’ve been exploring how data shows up in other fields to compare it with corporate social impact data. ⏭ My observations contribute to Debunking or questioning some best practices 🤔 And Reinforcing others. 🏅 Reading about Mackenzie Scott’s latest round of giving isn’t far outside of corporate social impact. The story is told using big numbers. The big numbers are supplemented by examples of specific grantees giving the specifics of their work. That sounds pretty familiar. 😊 CNN / Business Insider / AP articles $ given ($640 million) # organizations applied (6,000) # organizations in top tier scores(279), $2M each # of organizations next tier (82), $1M each $ B, Scott’s fortune (36.2) $ given last year or last round $ budget to eligible ($1M and $5M) Similar to the incredible spike in some organizations' budgets in 2016, I'm curious how we will look back on Yield Giving's effects five years from now. 🔮 In the majority, the nonprofit sector responds to the issues created by our faulty and harmful systems. Responsive action doesn't create systemic change but it does make things better for people's lives. That's why I'm hopeful to hear stories of individual's lives changing ✨ because of these massive gifts, including the nonprofit staff themselves, but do not expect stories of systems change. 🏔 #CSR #philanthropy #corporatephilanthropy #measuretomanage #DataInsights #DataforGood
We're thrilled to share the Yield Giving Open Call has announced 361 U.S. nonprofit organizations are receiving $640 million in funding! The Open Call — managed by Lever for Change — sought community-led, community-focused organizations whose explicit purpose is to advance the voices and opportunities of individuals, families, and communities who have met with systemic obstacles. These organizations are focused on working with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the U.S.: communities, individuals, and families with access to the fewest foundational resources and opportunities. Congratulations to all of the awardees! For more information, visit: https://lnkd.in/gWNYQb5q #YieldGiving #YieldGivingOpenCall #SocialImpact

Experiential Keynote Speaker & Engaging Content Creator for Senior Level Leaders | Empowering Leadership Excellence for Your Organization
Are you communicating the impact of your work effectively? In the world of nonprofits, it's easy to get tangled up in describing the process, forgetting that what truly resonates with people is the impact — the real-world benefits of your efforts. It's about shifting focus from how your organization operates to the tangible differences you're making in people’s lives. Consider these two approaches: 1. Describing a program aimed at helping mothers affected by domestic violence in terms of its operations and funding sources. 2. Highlighting how this program tangibly rebuilds confidence, self-esteem, and offers a new lease on life for these mothers. The second approach not only touches hearts but also clearly demonstrates the value and immediate effect of your work in a relatable way. Emphasizing benefits over features turns abstract concepts into real, emotional stories that people can connect with. It's these connections that inspire action, be it through donations, volunteering, or advocacy. Let's shift our narrative to illuminate the true essence of our work. Share stories of transformation and impact. Because at the end of the day, it's not just about what we do or how we do it — but who we're doing it for and why it matters. #NonProfitImpact #Storytelling #MakeADifference
