Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will lay the foundation stone for Tata Motors’ Rs 9,000 crore #electricvehicle (EV) #manufacturing plant in #Ranipet on September 28. The plant, a joint initiative between Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover India (JLR), is part of a larger investment deal signed with the Tamil Nadu government in March. The new facility, which will operate on the Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform, is expected to have an initial capacity of 200,000 units in its first phase. According to industry insiders, the production output will be split, with about two-thirds dedicated to Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and one-third for Tata Motors. As 15th August nears and India gets ready to celebrate Independence cum Mahindra launch day, here's my take on the design of the Thar ROXX: • The front grille of the new Thar ROXX gets 6 vertical slots instead of the 7 slots of the 3 door Thar. • It also includes a horizontal slot located in the center of the grille, covering the grille's entire width. • It gets LED projector headlamps with integrated signature C-shaped DRLs. • The rear door handles are vertically placed near the C-pillar. • The 3rd row quarter glass is in a triangular shape resulting in a unique looking triangular C-pillar. All these design changes will likely make the Thar ROXX design substantially different from the Jeep Wrangler. The Suzuki Kharkhoda plant is nearing completion and is set to open soon. Upon its inauguration, Suzuki will have the capability to manufacture 2.6 million vehicles annually in India. The company has set an ambitious target to increase its production capacity to 4 million by 2026, marking a significant shift in focus to India after 40 years of operations primarily centered in Japan. In contrast, Mahindra is planning to boost its production capacity to 800,000 units by next year. Hyundai is also set to enhance its total production capacity to 1 million by 2026, following its acquisition in Talaegaon. Tata currently has a production capacity of 800,000 but is not fully utilizing it. With the addition of the Tamil Nadu plant, they aim to surpass the 1 million mark.
