On-Premise SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) refers to an SD-WAN deployment model where the SD-WAN infrastructure is hosted and managed on the organization’s premises rather than in the cloud. Here’s a breakdown of how it works and its key aspects: ✅ On-Premise SD-WAN Features: 1- Local Hosting: All SD-WAN components such as the controller, orchestrator, and edge devices are deployed in-house. The network policies, management interfaces, and decision-making logic reside on-premise. 2- High Control: Since everything is hosted on-site, organizations have more control over security policies, traffic management, and network configurations. 3- Customizability: On-premise deployments allow for more tailored configurations and integrations with existing enterprise networks and security systems. 4- Reduced Dependency on Cloud Providers: Unlike cloud-based SD-WAN, where much of the intelligence and policy management is done in the cloud, an on-premise solution doesn't rely on external providers, which can help meet certain regulatory or compliance needs. ✅Benefits: 1- Data Sovereignty: Sensitive data stays within the organization’s boundaries, addressing data privacy and compliance requirements. 2- Low Latency: Since the SD-WAN controller is locally deployed, there is minimal latency in policy application and traffic routing decisions. 3- Enhanced Security: On-premise SD-WAN can be tightly integrated with existing firewalls, IPS/IDS systems, and other security infrastructure. 4- Full Visibility: IT teams have complete visibility into the network performance and the ability to tweak and fine-tune performance metrics. ✅Challenges: 1- Upfront Costs: Deploying and maintaining an on-premise SD-WAN solution involves higher capital expenditure for the infrastructure and ongoing operational costs. 2- Maintenance: The organization is responsible for managing, updating, and troubleshooting the SD-WAN solution, which requires specialized staff. 3- Scalability: Scaling on-premise solutions can be more complex compared to cloud-based models, as it may require additional hardware, licenses, and management complexity. ✅Components of an On-Premise SD-WAN solution: 1- SD-WAN Edge Devices (CPE - Customer Premise Equipment): 2- On-Premise SD-WAN Controller: 3- Orchestrator/Management Console: 4- WAN Links (Transport Network) 5- Security Components: - Firewalls and IPS/IDS - Encryption - Unified Threat Management (UTM) 6- Data Center/Branch Connectivity #cisco #SDWAN #Networking #CCIE #CCNP #network

Cisco SD-WAN’s integration with Microsoft’s Security Service Edge (SSE) addresses the evolving needs of hybrid work by combining advanced networking and security capabilities into a unified solution. This integration enhances security by redirecting branch internet traffic through Microsoft’s SSE for advanced inspection, leveraging AI-driven threat detection, and protecting against malicious traffic with robust cloud-delivered tools. Simplified deployment and management through templated workflows and secure tunnels optimize traffic flow and reduce complexity, enabling businesses to scale efficiently. Together, Cisco and Microsoft provide a resilient, high-performance WAN solution that secures on-premises and cloud workloads while optimizing application performance.

F5, the global leader in #multicloud #ApplicationSecurity and delivery, announced expanded technology #partnerships and customer win milestones that reinforce its position as a leader in multi-cloud networking. Arul Elumalai, Senior Vice President and General Manager of distributed Cloud Platform and Security Services at F5, said, “With multi-cloud comes significant complexity, cost, and security risks, as applications become increasingly distributed. F5’s secure multi-cloud networking capabilities abstract this complexity to connect and protect these distributed applications, without having to pay attention to the cloud or infrastructure on which they run.” “Indian businesses are rapidly adopting hybrid/multi-cloud technologies to modernize and accelerate revenue. However, this has heightened security challenges due to sophisticated cyber threats, increasing demand for enhanced #CloudSecurity. According to Gartner, security and #RiskManagement spending in India is expected to grow by 12% year-on-year in 2024. Businesses are looking for security solutions that are designed to secure their applications, irrespective of where they are deployed in the multi-cloud environment,” said Pratik Shah, Managing Director of India and SAARC, F5. . GCP Security Espresso no 12: Unlocking Cloud Native SASE with Cross-Cloud Network Securing today's hybrid workforce is a major challenge. Cross-Cloud Network simplifies this with a Cloud Native SASE solution. Understanding SASE and SSE ⭐ SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) combines network security (SSE) and SD-WAN into a single, cloud-based service, providing secure access to applications and data from any location. Central to SASE is Zero Trust - every user and device is verified before access is granted. SSE (Security Service Edge) delivers cloud-based security functions (firewalls, SWGs, CASBs, DLP, etc.), continuously verifying user identity, device posture, and context for granular access control. This approach minimizes the attack surface and enhances the overall security posture. Why SASE is Essential for Hybrid Workforces? ⭐ Traditional security struggles with today's distributed workforce. SASE offers consistent security and simplified management regardless of location or device. It improves performance, enhances threat detection, and streamlines operations by consolidating multiple security tools into a single, unified platform. This results in better visibility, consistent policy enforcement, and improved operational efficiency. Understanding the Cross-Cloud Network ⭐ The Cross-Cloud Network provides seamless connectivity across multiple clouds and on-premises locations using Google's high-speed, secure private network (including Dedicated/Partner Interconnect and Cross-Cloud Interconnect). Network Connectivity Center (NCC), with its hub-and-spoke architecture, simplifies traffic management and supports SD-WAN integration with leading vendors (Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, etc.) via virtual router appliances. This eliminates the need for complex, customer-managed mid-mile networks and their associated costs, including geographically dispersed colocation facilities. Cloud-Native SASE on GCP: A Simplified Approach ⭐ Google Cloud is developing a cloud-native SASE solution within its Cross-Cloud Network. This will simplify integration with various SSE solutions (from vendors like Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Broadcom Symantec) hosted on GCP. This approach promises to dramatically simplify your Hybrid and Multicloud network architecture, enhancing security and performance. Looking Ahead ↗️ Google Cloud is actively developing its Cloud Native SASE solution. While currently in preview (some parts are planned for future development), this approach promises to deliver significant benefits. Currently there are no clear details how exactly integration with SSE will look like, but probably in the NEXT this year (I also recommend great ARC301 presentation from NEXT 2024) we will be able to learn the details and next plans related to Cross-Cloud Network. Stay tuned for updates: https://lnkd.in/dwragXgE #GCPSecurityEspresso #GCP #CloudSecurity #Hybrid #Multicloud #SASE #SSE #ZeroTrust #CrossCloudNetwork

Traditional network security measures are increasingly inadequate. The rise of cloud services, SaaS applications, and remote work has expanded the perimeter of enterprise networks, rendering conventional security appliances less effective. Recognizing this shift, Gartner introduced the concept of Security Service Edge (SSE) in early 2021. SSE is a cloud-centric solution designed to secure access to the web, cloud services, and private applications, facilitating a safer digital transformation journey for enterprises. What is Security Service Edge? SSE is a subset of the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) framework, focusing on the convergence of network security services into a unified, cloud-based platform. It integrates several core components, including Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Firewall as a Service (FWaaS), and Secure Web Gateway (SWG), to provide comprehensive security coverage. #cybersecurity #securityserviceedge #india #technology Read More at 👇 https://lnkd.in/ehNTUpyc
